Lincoln 1955 s/d??

I was looking through my stuff and came across this Lincoln with a weird Mint mark. Could this be a new variety, or just a die crack?
The penny is in a cardboard holder and is unc. If it is a S/D or something, how would I get it officially recognized?
Should I send it to PCGS, and if so, under what category(Errors, Regular, etc)?
Both pictures are the same coin.

Do you have a closeup of just the "S?"

Thanks for posting the pics like that Steve. I am new on here and haven't figured the whole thing out yet.

No, those are the only pictures I have so far. I'll try to get some tonight.

If you are referring to the stuff going on within the upper and lower curves, it's probably just an anomaly of the mint mark punch. If you look at the 55s rpm's listed in CONECA's Lincoln cent rpm book second edition, you will see similar mintmarks.

Dang. I thought I discovered something. Oh well! I'll just keep it in its little cardboard folder since I think it is cool looking.

One of the best online websites that has pics of thousands of copper error/varieties is Coppercoins variety search

Just input the date of the coin, the Prominant mint (if you have a s/d, you would select san francisco) then go and select the type of variety that you have. In this case it would be Mint Mark

then hit search and look through the pics and descriptions of the coins found

It's one heck of a valuable tool for copper collectors.
