Suspicious.....
So I take an overseas trip and visit a couple of coin/stamp shops in this city.
I walk into the first shop and the guy behind the counter (owner ????) and another guy in front of it are talking about "making FDC'S". The guy behind the counter is putting a "First Flight Stamp" on the envelopes after the guy in from the counter signs the envelopes.....
SO I walk around and then ask the owner if he has any US coins. He pulls out a couple of books with some US stuff in them. Not much good in there, but one coin catches my eye...a 1887-O Morgan dollar marked as "UNC" with a very light brown peripheral rim toning. Now the rim toning is basically uniform around the coin on both sides.....No other colors - just a light brown.
The coin is priced at the equivalent of US$40 and looks pretty good.....with few if any marks....but I don't have a magnifying glass and based upon the action I see going on I pass on the coin....
Maybe I made a big mistake or maybe I sved myself a few bucks...who knows!!
I go to the next shop which looks like a dump with boxes piled high and stuff all over. I ask the guy if he has any US coins - Ike's.....tells me yes, but he doesn't know where they are......so I say thanks and leave.
Unreal!
