A tougher date Barber half........just added to my set
In yesterday's mail, I received one of the tougher date, XF/AU, Barber halves. The coin, an AU-55, PCGS graded 1896-O, is a date that I've been searching for, for quite some time now. The coin is absolutely stunning in hand, totally original, with beautiful multi-color toning. The coin has nice smooth surfaces, and is virtually mark free. There is some weakness, typical in "O" mint mark Barber halves, near the upper right side of the shield, into the wing.

Dan,
Congrats. Very nice pick up. Knowing how hard you've been working on that set, I'm glad you knocked off one of the tougher dates !
Harry must have salted that one away for you ! I never saw it on his website.

Dave,
As you probably already know, I'm working on my Barber quarter and half sets simultaneously. Am I still a "real" man?
Mike,
The 96-O was on the HLRC website for a very short time, with a POR. I knew I would be paying dearly for this coin......but that's the way it is with original, better date Barber's.
