today's relics

item of highlight is in the bottom right. its a pinfire shotgun head. not sure of actual age of bullets. the broach seemed like an odd find amongst bullets and casings.

    Cool!!
Are there any markings on the pinfire shotgun shell?
I found one last year that had a bee and the number 42 on it. I had no clue what it was. Thought it was some kind of mini pocket watch until I tried to clean it and the paper started to fall apart.

it looked smooth or worn, but i did'nt really look at it. i only knew it was a pinfire cause i dug a complete pinfire (casing and bullet) a few years back. i think normally i would have thrown it away. did'nt realize how rare they are to find around here.

I've never dug a pinfire shotgun shell. Plenty of the old brass-end regular kind, though, probably dating back to the late 1800s.
