Can you sum that up in two sentences or less?

  • Well I read it and I don't think that it's too long.

I hate it when I have to phone back repeatedly - it is just a sign of bad customer service. There are also signs of miscommunications within the actual office.

Let me sum it up in one sentence:

I invest in the stock market fulltime and if I were to run into this during my research I would not invest in the company ( if it were a listed company ).

I feel sorry for ajaan who recommended this service to a friend and then have the company really screw everything right up. I also feel sorry for the friend - he's probably decided that getting coins graded is an utterly useless event and is now scarred for life.

ajaan - email the president again and tell him that you've just told all of us. image

FINE! But I'm reading this under protest...

Man, that's a terrible experience. And I was thinking about using them because I noticed an ad for them in CoinWorld, and I have a few coins that I wanted graded. I've never sent coins in for professional grading before, and after reading this, I doubt I will use their service... I would be nervous under a standard timeline - neglect like this would make me a wreck.
  • This is a company that needs to take some lessons in honesty, internal communication, and customer service. I have run into a similar problem with a large coin dealer, who will never see another order from me.

You call, and just get an answer from somebody to make you happy for the moment, not the real truth. You also have the problem of communication within the company.

Thanks for showing the complete history, and it is a company that will not see any business from me.

They sure talk a good game about customer service, they sure dropped the ball on this one.

This is not only limited to TPGs in a rising and busy market...when I have more time I'll tell you the story of my last dealings with Heritage and their poor customer service (right up to their president I might add). It cost me a lot more than time waiting.

    Yea, verily.

I'd rather have the truth, even if it's just "I don't know." I'd hope someone in the company would go an extra step and find out the answer, call me back, and let me know what is going on.

Geez, wouldn't you know. In today's mail I get a letter of apology from ICG, and explanation, and free grading vouchers. I wait 3 weeks to post the original message, and today they come through. My timing sucks.

At least they sent a letter and tried to make it right for you. That right there would make me give them a second chance, even if it came 6 weeks later.

I'm not so sure. How many phone calls was that? A direct request ignored? Having to resort to write an actual paper letter to the president to get action?

I never did get a reply from the president. The reply I received was from DeFelice their customer service guy.

Could we have a quick summary of what happened for those of us who missed it before being edited into oblivion?
  • 'shroom was cranky due to a lot of fertiliser.

The fertiliser has now been smoothed out so the 'shroom is happy again. image

ICG took ten weeks to decide to send a coin out to a consultant. I was told they didn't send the coin out, then they may have sent the coin out, basic runaround by someone who didn't know what the heck was going on. If you want the full story, PM me.

On a serious note, I wouldn't have removed the original post, Don - you are very forgiving.

I would say you still had a reason to be unsatisfied, and it took several months for a fair resolution... After that experience, how likely are you going to be to use those coupons? Obviously, their tracking mechanisms are a little lax
  • ajaanajaan Posts: 17,454 ✭✭✭✭✭
I'll use the coupons, no need for free grading to go to waste. Two of the coupons will go to my friend.
