NEW SUBMISSION - POPPED -- TOOK FOREVER

First question - in terms of value on some of the low population 1972 FB 9's best value Ebay or National. See below. Looks like a decent submission for me anyway. These were the second tier after submission 587772 90012. Am partial to golf and 1972 both baseball and odd stuff - Trying to do a run of kelloggs -- looking for 1970 FB Kellogg. I currently have 72, 73 and 76 Kellogg baseball trying to find 74 and 75 Kellogg sets. Am also recently getting into 1972 Icee Bear sets any thoughts??. Any suggestions on Kellogg collectiblity would be appreciated.

Have had some luck in submitting lately and and begginning to submit 25-50 at each special and will be going to the National in July as well as the Naxcom Hollywood in July. I have watched with delight all the discussions of prices and grading lately. Kind of crazy. I buy cheap and try to grade what I like.

Although not an avid football collector picked up the 1973 set at the Hunt Auction, was suprised by the 70 Topps FB gavel at Hunt at over $650. Football making a comeback. I now have a football run of sets with exception of Payton Rookie from 1972, 1973, missing 74 and have 75 and 76. Would like other comments on later football. Have started thinking about 1950's football and mid 60's football.

All of the below cards were bought for relatively cheap less than $1 per card and slabbed and were my second submission, first submission was better. I did not get the dredded 314 grader. Am happy with the 72's 6 9's of which 2 were 1 of 7's 3 were 1 of 5's and one was 1 of 11. This was my second bunch of 72's. For other submission you can look at:

submission #587772 zip code 90012

I am avid golf, baseball and odd ball collector. Always like the board

Looking for:

Gradeable 1981 and 1982 Golf Sets Donruss sets
Odd ball golf
Odd ball regionals and interesting stuff (1968 Topps Game, 1964 Topps Giants)
Looking at completing 1970 Topps baseball relatively cheap

My comments are with respect to 1972 Topps Football although my guess is that they would apply to the other cards. ALso, I assume when you mention the National, you are talking about selling to a dealer. If so, Ebay is the better bet. The dealers will not give you top dollar because they are buying to resell and need to make a profit. Further, the cards are not big name cards, and although would have good value to 1972 Topps Football collectors, wouldn't be cards that most dealers could turn around and resell quickly.

The best bet of all would be to sell them directly to a 1972 Topps Football collector, like me. image I am interested in several of the 1972 Topps Football cards in your most recent submission, as well as several in your prior submission. Selling directly will allow you to avoid the fees. If you are interested, please send me a private message, or just post here.

No matter what you decide, good luck with your sales.

Mainly collecting 1956-1980 Topps Football, 1960-1963 Fleer Football, 1964-1967 Philadelphia Football, 1957-1980 Topps Hockey, 1968-1980 O-Pee-Chee Hockey, and 1976 Topps Basketball. Looking for PSA 9 NQ (or higher) in 1972-1980, and PSA 8 NQ or higher for pre-1972.

When I say National I mean doing it with a dealer I will be working the National and putting some of this out. PS what are the values of the commons in 1972 as the 1of 5's etc. What would you think someone would pay for 72 FB commons PSA 9 and PSA 8. Inquiring Minds.

    Thanks for the post

Assuming that you are getting the table space at the National for free, it might make sense to sell them there. The problem is that the cards (and I'm just referring to the 1972 Topps Football) are not big name items and might get lost on a table with lots of different sports and sets. The cards would likely be of interest only to the more serious set registry participants on that set. Since it's likely that most, if not all of them, will not be at the National, your best market will not be there. Also, even if they are there, the odds of them finding your table and noticing the handful of cards from that set is slim.

Ebay prices haven't been that great lately either. SMR for a PSA 9 is $30 and $8 for a PSA 8. Here are two cards which sold recently:

    Kiick PSA 9

    Hoaglin PSA 9

    The Kiick, a 1 of 10, sold for $34.34.

    The Hoaglin, a 1 of 3, sold for $10.50!

In short, I doubt you will get much more than SMR for even a 1 of 5, and it's more likely you would get less.

My guess on the PSA 8's is that you would get around $5.

In my last attempt to make both of us happy, I would be willing to purchase several of the cards in your current and older submissions from you. I am willing to pay around SMR for each card, depending on the pop. image

Thanks for taking the time to talk with me. I am very covetous of the cards, I am getting better at identifying grade worthy cards.. I came upon most of these through a close dealer friend of mine. Impossible to get 8's and 9's yet no one is willing to pay high dollars. I believe at $5 a pop for grading it makes it difficult and I very much appreciate your offer of SMR. For sake of argument, why dont you pick out say some cards you need and let me know what your interested in and willing to pay for them. Private message me.

I am not a distressed seller and would consider a reasonable offer, but realize I am too thinking about putting together a 72 FB set. I now have 16-18 9's 16 8's 1-7 and 1-6 Staubach. I have become quite attached to the set and love to talk about it. Will you be at the National, where you from??? I will be at the National in July as well as at the Naxcom Hollyword Park show in June.

Regards and thanks for the post
