1 10256544 1878 8TF $1 VAM 14-4 USA MS63
(was unattributed NGC 64 - thought it would stay 64, but 63 pop is 7/0, which tells the story)

(was raw, but expected 63)

Why exactly is this broken-record troll allowed to continue here? He'd have been banned long ago at any of the other forums I participate in.
<< <i>VAM disease is NOT funny - - its keeping me broke!! >>
.
My thoughts exactly.

Tom's Disease is ignorance & stupidity.
PCGS, ANACS, & NGC Certified Coins on My Website.
Say, I also have an 1896 VAM-20. It is in a PCGS MS63DCAM holder. PCGS didn't retag it because MSDCAM has no coin number for the VAM but offered to do so at MS63DMPL when I send in my next batch. Think I should leave it undisturbed or get it retagged with the variety and DMPL instead of DCAM? (I think it is the only prooflike of the variety so far.)

I've PM'ed Tom, aka the troll, and asked him nicely to either join the discussion or depart. Please keep
an open mind here everybody. If he's in the 'vam closet', it's difficult to come out I know.

Congrats on the grades Joe. A raw coin on ebay and you 65'd it at PCGS? Wow.

I'm confused as to how such a labelling error can occur. I thought that designations like business strike, proof, cameo, prooflike, full bands, etc., were embedded in the PCGS number. For example, the number 7240.63 means exactly 1896 $1 MS63. If it were PL or DMPL, the number would be something like 87240.63. There should be no way of generating an MS63DCAM label unless the PCGS number and the grade are entered redundantly, or the grade can be manually overridden.
