1821 1/2 Reales

Hey guys, I almost bid on this Spanish 1/2 reales from 1821 and was wondering how much is it worth? Here's the link: Text

Also, can you recommend a good book that has prices for old Spanish Colonial silver and older world coins in general? The local Books-A-Million just has books on more recent world coins. Thanks for the help!
I lust for silver.

Hi, SD. How've you been? I need to stick my head in over on the MD forum, too, to let folks know I'm still alive.

Krause is your best bet for overall coverage of both gold and silver. Just pick your century and buy the requisite volume. I noticed that BAM only seems to carry the 20th century volume, unless you get lucky, but poke around online and you should be able to get an 18th and/or 19th century volume.

Cool Mexican War for Independence coin. Now, try to figure out if the Assayer is AG or RG. If AG, it's a rarity.

As for a reference, this may be your best bet.

And, they can be found at a discount at
    Dan Sedwick's Website

His site mentions that he and another dealer bought up the remaining inventory, so other than ebay, you may have a little trouble locating it.

I think the seller of the coin in the first post is affiliated with another seller 'dig it'. I have purchased from him once, and I got what I bid on. He posts a lot of hype, and for someone who specializes in the field, he uses a lot of incorrect terms.

It's RG Andy, even though the first letter is somewhat obliterated you can still tell that left leg of the letter is vertical and not slanted. Also the serif at the bottom of the right leg is different for an R than it is for an A. This one's an R.
