Did you see what the PSA 9 Staubach rc went for?

Hi

A Roger Staubach RC in PSA 9 NQ on ebay recenly went very high, just short of $4500. SMR price on it is only $1250. I think they'll have to push up that price.

Yes, SMR is waaaaaaay off on that card, though this last one went a lot higher than Staubach 9's usually do. The 1/1 10 sold last year in the $15,000 neighborhood I believe. All that for a quarterback whose stats were very good, but not THAT good.

Actually the PSA 10 Staubach sold for $22,033 at the Mile High Auction. Right now, vintage HOF Football RC's are a great investment. They are finally getting some respect and the values are rising, particularly on the higher grade examples.
  • Not that I'm biased or anything (I am a long time Cowboy fan and a HUGE Staubach fan), but while Roger Staubach is not the greatest QB of alltime he should be somewhere in the discussion. Numbers are great -his weren't bad-but it comes down to winning and being a great leader. Staubach was a GREAT leader and a 2 time Super Bowl Champ. Everybody seems to forget that the old school QBs played in a era that made it a lot easier to cover the WRs & QBs weren't protected by rules the way they are today. I am glad to see his cards getting some well deserved respect. Now, if I can only score one of those 9s...... image

  • Absolutely, Staubach is one of the top few ever. I think people forget sometimes that he won 2 Super Bowls and nearly won 2 more, losing each by just 4 pts to the Steelers. And he only played about 9 or 10 yrs. So he led his team to the big game almost every other year.

Wow, I'm glad I picked up a Bradshaw rookie at $125 in PSA 7. The same card sold for $200.

I don't know about you guys but Larry Fritsch is sitting on a ton of 72' football and I am sure he has more than a few real nice Stauback rookies. I am staying away. chaz

Mind if I ask why you're staying away?

Look at the Mastro auction going on right now. He's got a ton of vending, this first offering is the tip of the iceberg of what he's got and he is going to auction more. We had some good threads on this. chaz
