I mean, it's a beautiful card and all, but the highest that I've seen this card go for was between $650 and $700. Wow!

I know what you mean. SMR is $450 on this one and it should be at least $600.

But, there are A LOT of examples like that out there.

And you can bet your butt it is worth it too. The number 1 guy (Carl) is usually very prudent when it comes to these types of auctions. One reason it went hi is that Loaf will bid almost any amount for a 9. Add Rum into the mix and that is why this example went so hi.

Being a nice 9 helped too. Wolf has had a decent run of 65 topps as of late.

That Don is dandy! Wow, I like the looks of that 65 series. I could never afford getting all of the stars in 8 or 9, but 5, 6, 7's might be do-able.

I don't know, but there were five different bidders above $491. Once these people get the card, accept a lower grade or even abandon hopes of owning a PSA 9, then SMR might be right at $500. Larry might be right. Five players are going to set the SMR for the rest of the us, because they getting in to a bidding war. Doubt it and if you let them then shame on you.

anyone ever suspect a drysdale collector might have needed the card?
also there were more than 5 bidders above the level mentioned. history

also...............new players come into the series all the time. Loaf just started 3 months ago. A card like that has HOF collectors, Dodger collectors and 65 set collectors.

oh and did I mention Drysdale collectors?

To say that 4 or 5 people set the market is just not quite right. IMO
