Calling All 1984 Donruss Factory Set Busters!

I'm down to just a few cards to complete the Master set in all 9/10 and need help with the following factory set 'STEELE' Diamond Kings. I had/have all these in 8's but want 9's or better.

Checklist DK STEELE
#15 Lance Parrish DK STEELE
#16 Matt Young DK STEELE
#23 Mike Schmidt DK STEELE

I am looking for PSA 9 quality raw that's submittable. Most of the time the DK's are diamond-cut/tilted, so it's a judgement call on centering with graders. I'm pretty good at judging what will and won't work. Also, it goes without that the corners gotta be clean. If you think you've got what fits within these parameters, please send a large black-background scan to, or email me with particulars to: bdavidson@prodigy.net

I'll also accept already graded 9's IF they are really the 'STEELE' variation. Please note that PSA has been notorious in the past by mislabeling these 2 variations, so verify that the card back in the bottom RH side says 'STEELE'. Conversely, if you have a 9 that is mislabeled STEEL on the cert tag but is really a STEELE, I can send to PSA and have corrected.

I will reward you fairly for acceptable material on an individual basis. I am hoping a few of you out there can help me put this baby to 100% complete PSA 9/10!

Thanks, Bill

    Al,
I don't have the Fitz as yet but hope to soon.

    Hack,
Thanks for the scan but they all have typical 8 centering. Really a shame. Oh well, anybody else out there with some factory???

I'll look at my factory set tonight. It was busted in '84 or '85 so no great loss. I assume if I end up with some cherries you'd have replacements?

I have at least 4 factory sets so replacements would be readily available.

    Not to hijack-

but I will pay stupid money for a 1984 Donruss Diamond King Mike Schmidt Steele variation graded PSA 10 - and still pay aggressive even for a PSA 9.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

I'm with MS, but I need a Trammell.
Collecting all graded Alan Trammell graded cards as well as graded 1984 Topps, Donruss, and Fleer Detroit Tigers

Sorry guys. #482 was 65/35 TB. Schmidt and the other DKs were slightly tilted.
  • I checked my recently opened factory sets for the DKs. They are tilted. The Fitzgeralds were garbage. There was actually surface damage to both were there was a break in the color of the surface of the card, thus showing white. This lends me to believe that this is were the uncut sheets was gripped with some sort of mechanical device in the factory??

Overall, I am displeased with the quality of factory sets. The 2 that I opened will not yield any 10s, maybeeeeee some potential 9s. My recommendation is to only buy factory sets at a show where you can inspect the quality of the bricks and see their undersides for centering.

The print mark is not on the card, but there is a very small black print mark on the bottom border that isn't showing on the scan.

    Bug,

Put your tongue back in your mouth and quit drooling, you're embarrassing yourself...............Ok, ok, I'm talking about myself and what I'd probably look like if I were in your shoes.

I think it would 9 on centering, although it will be a close call. The wildcard will be how they view the slightly rough-cut left side edge.
