I wondered about that, But, I really do like the design..... The coin in hand is looks much better than the scan. Fantasy or not, ??? It's gotten to be a favorite already. I think i might try collecting a few fantasy coin's. I like the 1902 Czar Nickolas 37 Rouble's and 50 Kopeck's, I have one of them, But i am looking for the gold plated version.
Copper 18.2400g Medal alignment mintage 750 value $20
There is a bronze and silver also with mintages of 750. Bronze, $20---Silver,$50. There is also a gold version with a mintage of 1. No value listed. Ths is listed as the INA retro series. Medallic coinage. I like it!!
Thank's all...... It weigh's exactly 18.00 gram's..... Look's like a gold proof, I think it is struck in Goloid. So, I at least know it's a Double-Florin.
It is one of the Patina "pattern" collection, much the same as the Edward VIII crowns. They featured a range of issues, denominations, British countries and monarchs from Queen Victoria onwards. These were prepared for the 2000 Millennium as "fantasy" patterns of coins that might have been but never were developed or issued.
Australia never had a Double Florin (4 shilling coin). The first official Australian currency was introduced in 1910 featuring King Edward VII obverse and Coat of Arms reverse with date in denominations of 3 pence, 6 pence, 1 shilling and 2 shillings and made of Stirling Silver. The first bronze coinage was introduced the following year in 1911 with the newly crowned King George V obverse and Halfpenny and One Penny reverses. The only Australian Crowns or 5 shillings coins were issued in 1937 and 1938 with a George VI obverse. Imperial coinage ceased in 1964 and Decimal coinage was introduced in 1966. Gold sovereigns and half sovereigns were issued in Australia from mid 1850s to early 1930s but these were issued by colonial Branches of the Royal Mint in Sydney, Melbourne and later Perth.
All these Patina Collection fantasy designs look great and most were issued in Bronze, Aluminium Bronze (gold colouring) and Silver. As was said a few exist in either gold plated or gold. One can find coins for the United Kingdom, Jersy, Australia, South Africa, Canada, New Zealand, Ireland and other then British commonwealth countries. I have a nice fantasy 1936 Edward VIII crown for Papua New Guinea and a couple 1937 crowns for Australia and New Zealand. All look great.
