Your opinion: '97 Bowman vs. '97 Bowman Chrome

Hey everyone,

I was thinking about these two makes today and wondered what everyone else thought. I know there is a crapload of both '97 Bowman and '97 Bowman Chrome baseball produced. I also know that most cards from both of these makes will grade out as PSA 8 to PSA 10s, however, as I was thinking about buying a '97 Bowman Chrome Vernon Wells PSA 10, I also noticed there was a PSA 10 regular Bowman Vernon Wells for sale. The consensus has always been that Bowman Chrome is the better card, but when it comes to the '97s, is Bowman Chrome really better to buy in high-grade? Wouldn't the black borders on the regular '97 Bowman product make it more difficult to find in PSA 10? I guess I got thinking that the 1997 Bowman PSA 10 Vernon Wells rookie might be the better card to buy. What do you guys think when it comes to 97 Bowman rookies? Would you rather pick up a regular Bowman or a Bowman Chrome?

And yes, for the record, I do need a life.

  • Well according to the pop report there have only been 4 Bowman cards of his graded with one being a 10. The chrome has a pop of 48 with 14 being given the grade of 10. So it looks as if the chrome is the more popular of the two.
