NBA MVP?

I think it should be the player who makes the most difference to a SUCCESSFUL team. Not just a great player where it doesn't matter because the team is not even in the race. Maybe Nowitski?

I am not sure how you don't give it to Nash again.

They lose their most dynamic scorer in Stoudamire, most of their starters are new, and he's having a better season offensively than he did last year, and the Suns are rolling.

The only other candidate I would seriously consider as viable would be Chauncy Billups. Nash has better numbers, Billups has a better team.

Nash, hands down - end of story.

Billups is a great second choice, but with the Pistons you are talking about a team that might still roll on without him. Take Nash from the Suns, and it could get ugly. Elton Brand should get a vote or two, as well.

Is there a more overrated, worse player in the league than that bum? The whole Knicks team is a joke, and Isiah Thomas will make sure it remains so for the next 5 years.

Hey Dan, how about Kidd for MVP? I forgot about him - the Nets really go as far as he takes them.

Kidd would have to be at least considered. He is such a floor leader and you are right. The Nets go nowhere and fast without him.

I hate the Knicks but it is sureal to see what has become of that franchise. They have so many problems with salaries that they have NO SHOT at being a decent team for at least 5 years. Stephon Marbury is just the cherry on top of the DEBACLE that they have become.

Kobe Bryant. The Lakers might win 10 games without him.

    Shane

  • I really think it is Kobe. His numbers are phenominal and his team is in the playoffs. Without him, as it was said, their team would be in last place. IMHO.

I forgot to add - see me in a few weeks when it's announced. It will be Kobe Bryant.

    Shane

  • If Kobe Bryant wins the NBA MVP it will be a total joke, it will come down to either Nash or Nowitzki--hard to believe they were teamates just a few short years ago. Too bad Cuban couldn't have kept Nash.

As much as I hate to admit it, I think Kobe is MVP. With Kobe, they win 45 and make the playoffs. Without him, they are worse than the Knicks.

The Cavs do not make the playoffs without LeBron, but I think they win more games.

Kobe is not exactly the right type of choice for an MVP. I understand he is a one-man team, but is that what an MVP is? An MVP is a player who makes the whole team better with his play, and that what you see with Nash, Kidd, Billups, and Nowitzki.

Lebron wins it if it were not for Kobe.

MVP means - MOST VALUABLE PLAYER. I think Kobe is pretty valuable.

I don't think Kobe wins it for a couple of reasons.

First, he doesn't make anyone on his team better. Second, his off the court issues will lose him votes. He's had a good year, and because the team would be much worse off without him, he gets it? How much would Cleveland suffer without Lebron, or Phoenix without Nash (who lost Stoudamire)?

How but Paul Pierce. Kobe Bryant doesn't make anyone on the floor better. Plus he is a rapist.

Nash....again. Forget Kobe.....being the MVP for a team that is self serving to his skills, yet doesn't win, nixes his ass. If he had the skills to pull it off like a Jordan, then yes.

  • In a thread at the All Star break I picked Chauncey Billups by a whisker over Steve Nash. After the 2nd half of the season, I am going the other way and picking Nash.

I take into consideration the players Phoenix lost (Stoudemire, Richardson, Johnson) and those they gained (Diaw, Bell and House). And I see that the players they gained had career years. I don't think that is just a coincidence.

I agree that if you took Kobe and LeBron off of their teams that they would be lucky to win 20 games, but the same can be said about Nash.

My bottom line is he's a great player who makes his teammates better.

I think this is what makes Nash so much more valuable than Kobe. Kobe doesn't lift his team like Nash does, or Jordan did. Kobe doesn't get the most out of his teammates, he just wants his 40 points a night.

I think Nash takes it again.

I am a big Suns fan so my vote goes to Nash. But honestly, if you gave it to a guy that means EVERYTHING to a team, then it would have to be Lebron James. The Cavs would suck so bad without him, even a non Kobe Lakers team would crush them.
