I saw an auction @ ebay stating This is the last year for Sac $'s???

Can any one confirm or deny this? I thought Sacs were going to continue along with the MS/PR Pres Dollars in 2007? Any KNOWLEDGABLE help would be appreciated. Thanks.

The same claim was made in some eBay auctions last year, and the year before that. I've also seen auctions making that claim about the Kennedy Half.

As of now, the United States Mint has not made any announcement about the continuation or discontinuation of the minting of the current design for the one dollar coin. Steve

At least from what I've read in CoinWorld of the Bill that passed to allow the President Dollars, a certain proportion of Sac Dollars must also be struck. The amount depends on how many President Dollars are struck for the year.

Yup, 2000 was the first year they were struck, and 2006 is the last year they were struck.

As a matter of fact, 2006 is the last year any denomination was struck.

Larry, I beleive it to be as you said from the same articles. I think the MS Sacs will continue being struck and available by Rolls, and the Proof sets will include the Sac. A Separate 4 coin Proof Pres Dollars set will also be issued as a stand alone, concurrent with the Proof Clad & Proof Silver sets including the Sac Dollar. I am not sure if the mint sets will include the Sac or not? My guess is they will and the Pres Dollars will be included in a separate cello sheet with the sets?????
