Belated ANA Atlanta Report, with pictures......

I drove to Atlanta on Thursday and got stuck in some afternoon traffic arriving at the hotel around 5:30 PM.

Here’s my belated ANA report, the show was light on Darkside goodies, but I still managed to pick up a few things.
Initially on the morning of opening day, I was very disappointed but did find two of my favorite Darkside dealers,
Steve Damron and Sentry Box. Their tables were swamped and I could not get near them until that afternoon.
When I left the bourse for lunch I had not made a single purchase.

Lunch was enjoyable with some of my fellow Darksiders and I was able to capture a quick shot before the food arrived.
In fact they made more than half the fun of being there, if it had not been for them I probably would have left
Saturday afternoon instead of Sunday morning.

After lunch I did finally get to squeeze in at Steve’s Table and eyed a really nice 1849 Godless Florin or two,
which was slated for an upgrade, and made a purchase of one of them (ANACS AU-58) with a nice re-punched 4
in the date. Has some nice toning as well, light violet to blue, will image later. Also picked up some nice British
from Gibraltar, Kenya (Mombasa), Jamaica, Ceylon, and Cyprus to name a few.

We participated in the ANA Casino night on Friday and had some fun and adult beverages, and a late evening junk food dinner. image

Saturday was fairly productive I went back to see Steve and picked up a Victoria Crown, Half Crown, and Shilling.
I only filled one hole in my GB type set and that was the shilling the others were upgrades.
I also purchased four nice coppers 2 Pennies and 2 farthings of George V & VI, it’s hard to find nice copper
anymore and Steve had some at a fair price. I didn’t need them just liked them.

I went through all of Chris’s (Sentry Box) boxes and picked out two additions to my German type set 1876 20Pf
and 1875 50 Pf, plus a nicely toned 1/2 mark of 1916. Also got some other nice world coins from Italy, Japan,
Denmark, Austria, New Zealand to name a few.

I made two submissions one each to NGC and ANACS, totaling about 20 coins, three were for Mongoose.

We also did some of our own show and tell and coin swap at the Hotel, and I got some really nice copper from Terry’s stock box, all NGC slabbed.

Saturday night we all went to a very nice dinner with; Chris (Sentry Box), Mr. & Mrs. Aethelred, Mr. & Mrs. Ajaan,
Myself, and Spinnaker. A really good time was had by all and the company was great, and the show was OK.

In conclusion, not much in Darkside, I checked Glen Schinke, he did not have what I was looking for. AHM did not bring world coins neither
did Harlan Berk, and nice Briish is hard to find, Steve had the best selection

The woman in the photos isn't really a forum member, she is just unfortunate enough to be married to one.

About 90% of what I bought at the show came from two dealers (Steve Damron and Dave Amey), there were slim pickings at this show but it was a lot of fun to see the Darksiders again.

While there is a resemblence between you and wybrit Don, you are still younger and better looking than that Chelsea supporter.
