First gold coin ever made.

Got $11,000?

This is a "light" gold stater (8.05 grams) from the Lydian ruler Croesus (561-546 BC), who was the first to establish pure gold and pure silver coins (as opposed to electrum coins like my icon). Harlan J. Berk literally wrote the book on these dawn of coinage pieces. He calls this example "One of the finest examples we have ever seen. Sharp strike with full luster. Utterly Mint State".
Only $11k. Would you rather have a nice high grade Saint or the very first gold coin ever made, and arguably the finest example?

We are like children who look at print and see a serpent in the last letter but one, and a sword in the last.

I'd hold out for a DCAM.
I love it. I'd rather have that coin of Croesus than most US coins. Croesus must be largely forgotten in the US because I don't here people say, "He's as rich as Croesus" any more. Then again, when I first heard people say that Croesus was still alive.
