1941 Play Ball Crossover Opinions

I posted this on the general cards forum but thought that some collectors may not look there. I collect the 1941 Play Ball set in NM-MT condition. Last year I puchased a Left Gomez in GAI 8.5. The card measures correctly. Under 10x magnification the corners and edges look to be at least PSA 8 quality. The SMR for an 8 is $2,000. The SMR for a 9 is $6,500. I would like to have this card in PSA holder to go with my set. However, cracking it out makes me nervous. Would you crack it out and submit? Would you leave it in the holder and submit for a crossover? What do you think it will grade with PSA?
Thanks, David

Alternately submit it to SGC, have it holdered there, then cross it to PSA.

I agree that the card and not the holder is key. However, since all of my other cards are PSA, the GAI holder looks out of place. In addition, if I ever need to sell my Play Ball cards, the market likes PSA more.
I paid $1,200 for the card. Basically a little less then the halfway point between a 7 and 8. I had bought several Play Ball cards from this individual. Regarding PSA 6/7s, I do not have any at this time. I only have 8s. However, I often come across Ex-Mt to NM collections in my job. I am an estate/trust attorney. I cannot purchase them due to conflict of interest. However, I introduce them to national dealers who buy the collections. For example, I introduced Steve Hart to a large unopened collection. The next time I get some Play Ball cards, I will let you know. Just send me a PM with your name, address and phone number. If anybody else has a particular collecting interest, let me know and I will put you on a list of potential buyers.
