2006 Topps Triple Threads Box Break....

This is my very first box break and I have to say that it turned out pretty damned well. image I picked this up on E-Bay this past Friday night and the box arrived in the mail today. Major props go out to fourcssports for the quick shipping. Anyway, down to the nitty gritty.

Pack 1:
TTH67 CY3: Triple Threads Heros Carl Yastrzemski (Boston Red Sox)
26: Johnny Damon (NY Yankees)
69: Eric Chavez (Oakland Athletics)
74: Carlos Lee (Milwaukee Brewers)
56: Mickey Mantle (NY Yankees) Sepia, 108/150
WW-731: 1/1 White Whale Printing Plate, David Wright (NY Mets), Miguel Cabrera (Florida Marlins), Jason Bay (Pittsburgh Pirates). image

After that first pack, I figured the second one was going to pretty much be a wash as the White Whale was in that first one.

Pack 2:
TTH56 MM6: Triple Threads Heros Mickey Mantle (NY Yankees)
81: Jose Reyes (NY Mets)
98: Jeremy Bonderman (Detroit Tigers)
8: Yogi Berra (NY Yankees)
27: Chris Carpenter (St. Louis Cardinals) Emerald, 29/99
TTRC-234: Mike Piazza (LA Dodgers), Jeff Bagwell (Houston Astros), Scott Rolen (Philadelphia Phillies) R.O.Y. (06/18)

With that White Whale I think I made out okay. Spent $185 total to include shipping, and pulled what's listed above. I think I did okay considering I got that sweet Combo White Whale card. image

Pictures of the WW, Relic, and printing plates are below.

I collect the elements on the periodic table, and some coins. I have a complete Roosevelt set, and am putting together a set of coins from 1880.

    Are you trading the 1of1?

  • Nice stuff. I'm still not a big fan of the "band-aid" autos but still, nice stuff.

Pretty much everything is available for trade, but it will be a bit of a while before I can actually go ahead and make the trade. I need to get a few screw-down holders and some other equipment so that the card(s) can be shipped safely, then I also need to figure out the proper value of the card. So I'll just need to hear some offers and make my decision on that. (I've also got this break posted at sportscardforums.com). I'm just psyched to have pulled the white whale card. image

As for what I collect, I'm trying to put together a set of the 2002 Topps Race to 70 HR Chase, the 1999 Topps McGwire/Sosa HR Chase, and the 2001-2002 Topps Traded Complete Sets. (For the Topps Traded, I'm just trying to find the time to pick up an already completed set).

  • Congrats jdurg...Pretty nice stuff there.

I was very intrigued by the early sell sheets of this product(Still am) but think I'm going the singles route. Main thing that gets me is the "Items" can be from anything, as I understand even "Clothing from a brief guest appearance" not a big deal, but decreases my desire to own many of the pieces.

PS- Your elements on the periodic table, do you have a link to that somewhere?
Sig: Looking for a recent smr magazine, Please pm if you have one to recycle. Thank You

jdurg-nice rip! I'm actually a mod over on SCF (same name)...I'd post over there but the site seems to be down. I'd love a shot at that white whale. Amazing how many of those things there are, but still cool cards IMVHO. image

I busted a pack and pulled a Tigers triple GU #/18 and figured aw hell...better go get the auto pack..I did...and pulled a Felix Hernandez auto/dual jsy. Turns out the Felix sells for $50 and the last Tigers triple went for $123. Heh..go figure. image
