Serious Question - Who do the Bucs have @ QB?

No smack here. Saw that Detroit has Josh McCown and thought the Bucs had him.

Turns out it's Luke McCown. Geez, how many QB pups did Mama McCown pump out? There's three in the league?

Anyway, the Bucs have Tim Rattay and Jared Allen also.

Rattay I guess will be the back up. Not much playing time in the last few years. 9 games, 325 attempts, 2169 yards in 04 (his most active year) but far and above more experience than the other two.

Does this make Bucs fans nervous considering the O line is a little weak? Yea they can draft O line guys but the first year won't make much of a difference.

As an aside I was checking out the NFL Europe rosters. The Eagles signed Timmy Chang in January. He's playing over there at the moment. More of a novelty than a serious prospect really. Who knows.

Chris Simms is the starter on the current depth chart.
I collect Vintage Cards, Commemorative Sets, and way too many vintage and modern player collections in Baseball (180 players), Football (175 players), and Basketball (87 players). Also have a Dallas Cowboy team collection.

Bucs will be just fine. Rattay was there last year, and knows the system...from what I hear, though, is that McCown has the inside track to be the #2, and Rattay could end up #3. McCown is said to be picking up the system very quickly, and has better physical attributes than Rattay.

We'll see...hopefully they never get in a situation where they are needed.

I think someone named Dreck may be the starting quarterback for them.

And McNabb won't make it a whole season before suffering yet another injury.

Must suck to be an Eagles fan these days...tell me boys, which is worse. Choking in the big game, or being a cellar dwellar?

Its hard for Eagles fan to understand that it is defense that wins rings. They are always asking who do we have at Qb, or who is going to
run the ball, or we have TO, or we don't like TO....blah blah blah.......TO has no rings and will never have rings, until he gets with a team
with a defense. Mike Vick has no rings, McNad has no rings, Peyton Manning has no rings...blah blah blah.

You need smarts at the QB position. Simms did not have that this year. If he does the stupid things that he did last year, when our
defense is playing lights out, then he needs to be canned on the spot!! He lost us home field last year and the playoff game. Need I
remember you all that the bucs defense gave up 108 TOTAL yards to Washington. There is no why you lose a game like that unless
someone gives it away, which Simms did.

Look at all the weapons Cincy and Carolina had......count the rings.

The Eagles have no d and no o..they have nothing, but a twinky eating head coach. sorry you lose

Unless you're the Pittsburgh Steelers, in which case it's apparently photographs of the entire Super Bowl officiating crew fondling little boys in the Waffle House bathroom that wins you a ring.

Very unfair comments about the Eagles who only two seasons ago were within four points of winning a Super Bowl, and last season had more injuries in key positions than any other team I have ever known in the NFL. I hate making excuses but that is a pretty good excuse.

I predict a rebound season coming up for the Eagles, ending with a Super Bowl victory. If a Super Bowl victory doesn't happen, so be it, but for sure the Eagles will have a great season, will definitely win the NFC East and are an absolute stone cold mortal lock to have a better record and season that the lowly Buccaneers with Iam Dreck at quarterback.

    Thanks I saw that.

I was asking about the Bucs depth at QB if Simms gets injured.

To continue this attempt at a rational discussion -

Yes the D is a key but if they are on the field most of the game the team suffers. If you rely on the D to score for you or keep the score down, and the O doesn't score, goes 4 and out or turns the ball over it all catches up with you.

Carry the team for 6-8 games but at the end of the season your D is beat up and tired. Most probably agree with this.

The Bucs O line needs work. Simms may not have been protected last year as well as he needed. Rookies are not the answer.

If Simms is injured there are three back ups with a combined 17 starts in their respective careers.

Yes I ask about QBs. Why?

Because it seems that if you spend over 20 minutes in every game giving the ball to a player who is tasked with handing it or throwing it to another player, then he obviously has a major role in the outcome.

Duhhh you say. Well the Eagles have been there. I believe they have made a good move in picking up Garcia who will fit in nicely with their system.

Just wanted to know if the Bucs fans are not happy with their situation.

As an Eagles fan I have not been happy with their choice to go with untested back ups in the past. QBs get injured. You need a proven guy, whether a career back up or a vet now a 2nd QB to keep the O going.

The Eagles relied on their D to win games in the past. It does not work when the O can't score at least 3 TDs a game, sometimes 2.

I think the Bucs are now in that same boat.
