So, your thoughts on your NFL team's schedule?

AxtellAxtell Posts: 10,037 ✭✭
Now that the full schedule is out, what do you think? I remember hearing the guy who had done the schedules for decades retired after last year, and the matchups seem to show how good he was at it.

For the bucs last year, a good majority of the divisional games were in the last weeks of the season...I liked that element.

This year, week 1 is at home (seems like it's been a long time since a week 1 home game), but the bye week is in week 4...I think they should have all the teams have their by weeks in weeks 6-9, to make it a more even playing field.

Half their games are against playoff teams last year, including both teams in the super bowl.

It should be an exciting year...Mr. Tony K on MNF (let's hope they oust Theismann soon), and lots of changes in big name player's locations.

Eagles are away 3 of the last 4 weeks, playing Washington, NY Giants and Dallas.

This makes me a little nervous.

They have to rack up a good record before hitting those games.

Spanking the Bucs in Tampa will help build confidence.

It looks like I will visit Philly for the Dallas game in October and Carolina in early December.

Will sell the rest of my season tickets. Just can't take the time to fly up for any more than two games.

    What a waste

Why not pick a game where your team will have a chance

  • Raiders get a bye in week three? That stinks.

I have and will be waiting for TO when he gets off the bus at the hotel.

And you will be attending which Cowboys games?
  • And you will be attending which Cowboys games?

Probablly stick to the same plan we've used in the past

We'll see the Boys against the Giants in Jersey ( im from Jersey ) and then for the last 3 years we've taken a trip out to Dallas for a game

The first year we were out there we took the tour on a Sat. before the game. Walked the field and toured both the locker room and the training room. Awesome experience !

This year i think were going to try one of the packages available by the Cowboy Touchdown Travel Club . I have the brochure and it looks very interesting

The Patriots got a relatively weak schedule.

Weak division -- Jets, Fins, and Bills twice, all of the NFC North, and the two tough games (Denver, Indy) at home.

    Hello, Super Bowl XLI !!!

Fins are a playoff contender, they won their last 8 games in a row last year.

Jets still suck, Pennington's garbage, and the Bills will be mediocre at best. I wouldn't be counting your chickens just yet.

I haven't even bothered to look. It's the Lions, so who really gives a damn when or who they play. It's 6-10 any way you cut it.

    Dave -

Tell me, how do you do it?

How do you skirt the Jersey law that prohibits residents from being Cowboys fans? image

Having grown up in the Garden State I find your choice quite troubling. image

I figure one division loss (to Miami), one other loss (to Colts or Broncos), and mayble a loss for a bad game. Looking at 13-3 or 14-2 and home field for the entire AFC playoffs.
  • Keith,

I really didn't have much of a choice in the matter.

Let me take you back. lol . Lakewood, N.J . 1976. I was 7 years old back then and that was the first time i laid eyes on my older brothers ( he was 17 at the time ) Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders Poster. I was hooked from that moment on.

True story but in all seriousness my brother was a Cowboy fan back then and being the little brother i just followed in his footsteps. It's funny but after all these years and watching so many games together i've never asked him why or what made him follow the Cowboys. He actually lives in Florida now so we don't get to watch games like we used to but we always talk on the phone after games.

  • I am really upset that Jacksonville isn't coming back to Phoenix. That is the only time that I have ever and will ever go to a Cards game.

    Dave-

My grandparents lived for many years in Lakewood / Brick Township. Spent many holidays there with my grandfather who would take us out for a ride in the Pine Barrens and to a local nature sanctuary. Little did we know that while "going for a ride", he was scouting hunting spots.

Most of my family is in Burlington County where I grew up, but Mom's side moved to Monmouth County before I was born. Her sister still lives in Marlboro Township, Wicatunk to be exact. I loved going up there on the holidays and watching the NY sports coverage.

Now of course I'm in South FL on the west side, 2 hours south of Tampa.

But a Cowboys fan in the heart of Giants / Jets country? We need to dig up some present day pics of those cheerleaders. Maybe the wrinkles and cellulite will help change your mind!

You have the following teams on your schedule who are either playoff teams from last year, or who have strong chances at it this year:

    Miami (twice)
    Cinncinati
    Indy
    Chicago
    Denver
    Jacksonville

Not to be a naysayer, but to say you are going to go 5-2 or 6-1 through those 7 is quite an optimistic view in my opinion.

The Eagles will not lose to any Texas team this year. Unless maybe they play the Astros. image

I'm a Colts fan so it doesn't matter. 13-3 and an early playoff exit seems like a good guess.image

Miami is improved, but I think you have them a tad overrated. Do you really think the Pats were trying to win that final regular season game? With Denver and Indy at home, each of the games listed above are very winnable, so I think 5-2 is achievable.

The Giants schedule is brutal, probably the hardest in the league.
