I love this seller

This seller sells Sport neon signs on ebay. The auction description is HUGE and full of clauses. The item is priced at $9.99 but if you look in the auction description you find this statement.

READ The Paragraph below NOW before bidding.
Please read the auction terms and agreement before bidding.
Shipping and Handling $145 Flat Rate within 48 States.
If you do not agree to the S&H, do not buy or bid on the sign.
Do not leave negative feedback because you think S&H is too high.
Do not complain or refuse to pay because you think S&H is too high.
Do not complain that you did not see the S&H posted on the auction.
There is no deception here. Again S&H is $145 Flat Rate
within the 48 continental states.
If it is too high for you, STOP, Leave and DO NOT BID...
and go buy the sign elsewhere on the internet
or from another ebay seller. It's that simple. Thank you

If there is know deception why not put the $145 in the shipping section?????

Makes me laugh.

That sums it up. If you don't like something, keep walking.

  • I agree with you but if he is not being deceptive, why hide it in the middle of a ten page description riddled with clauses. Be respectable and put in the shipping price field so it is easily seen. I have never dealt with this seller but I find it funny that they obviously have had problems with this and still try to hide the $145 shipping cost.

  • You see a lot of this when buying "stuff". I have purchased camera batteries and a headset for my Blackberry on Ebay, where ie batteries are $.99 but shipping is $10; head set is $1.99 with $15 shipping. Certainly eliminates returns! It's very common on the "stuff", however, I hope it does not become common on cards ( 10 cards from same seller same day with $5 each for shipping !!

  • I think his 25 page ryder on bidding is probably a culmination of questions and issues he has been presented with in the past. I imagine if you sell enough of anything on ebay you will eventually be asked every question that a normal person could think and constantly barraged by questions from those aren't so normal, so to cut down, its good to put everything out in the open.
  • Its simple. Ebay fees are lower when you call the actual worth "shipping".

    Yep,

    Circumventing Fees

Users may not use systems or techniques to circumvent, or avoid, eBay fees. Sellers should review the ‘Some Examples’ section below to ensure they are not engaging in any practices that circumvent eBay fees.

    Some Examples

Unreasonable shipping or handling costs - Listings with low prices but unreasonably high shipping or handling costs.

He'll lose far more money on his 'reputation' and 'seller integrity' than if he'd just price items correctly and pay the typical ebay fees. I wouldn't touch these types of auctions with a 35' pole.
