The coin arrived today from PCGS. The VAM 26A is one of the rarest of the SUPER CD varieties listed in the new clashed die variety book "Elite Clashed Morgan Dollars" written by Dr. Mark Kimpton. This coin is believed to be only the 3rd or 4th known specimen found in the last 5 years. The previous finest known example was sold on eBay for $1,358 in an ANACS Scratched net MS60 holder last year. Mark has recently informed me that another piece sold for about $1,600 in a damaged ANACS AU slab. To call this PCGS MS65 a finest known is a gross understatement.
