MISCUT???? 1922 Babe Ruth...

image

what do you guys think? I would say OC if you wanted to be really picky but MC??

I don't know enough about cards to say but I am shocked that I spent 30.00 to get this 85 year old card holdered and it gets shot down.

I will trust what you guys say about it and what I should do.

Thanks

Are they saying miscut because of the bottom border? It looks a little wavy on the bottom like it was trimmed or cut wrong, but it's hard to tell if it's really that way from a scan.

As far as off-center miscut, heck no!

    You got me?

I just checked and my grades were available.......

I'm not too pleased about this one.

call 'em up before they ship it and ask them to double check..

plus it seems like they should at least holder it as "authentic"..

The bottom border looks too big on the left side, so it really is miscut, in the sense that it is not a rectangle. Not Miscut as is the picture on the card is not centered on the card. There is a difference, one PSA grades with a MC qualifier and the other PSA does not grade. The Ruth card above is not a rectangle, therefore it is not gradeable miscut. We need a different term for these two different concepts. Hopefully someone more articulate than me will be able to explain it better. Bottom line is that there is extra material on the Ruth preventing it from measuring up as a rectangle.

    southsider...

I think that is an illlusion.....I think that if anything, there is a small section of the middle bottom worn away.

...and I think that is where the problem is.........it looks like a bad cut and not necessarily worn away.

They could have not graded it "trimmed"...poorly

now that I look at it again....I had it laying on my scanner with the lid up.

Look at the creases on that bottom edge. I don't think it was laying flat.

We're not selling this one so it's not a big deal but we did want it holdered.

.......a card that old and in that condition...........as long as it is authentic the value does not change...

    Goose-
From the look of the Ruth in the scan - it looks like it has been trimmed at the bottom of the card. If they gave it a miscut at least you get the grading fee back. PSA, GAI and SGC will encapsulate the card authentic if you just want the card in a holder.

You have some great stuff. Keep doing the show and tell.

well I emailed L'Var and he put a hold on the shipping of them back to me. I asked him to please have someone take a second peek at it and at the very least holder it as GENUINE.

Do you remeber what the back looked liked? I am not familiar with the issue so if the back is blank forgive me.
