Will PSA ever pre-grade cards at shows?

I don't know about you guys, but it sure would be nice if PSA pre-graded cards at shows like Beckett and GAI do. I am not sure about SGC but it sure would be nice as an additional service to customers if PSA did this. I wonder why they don't pregrade? They would make quite a bit more at shows rather than just accepting submissions. What do any of you think? chaz

  • I would think they would stay out of shows to preserve their integrity of grading. I don't that they would want to be influenced by people like some of the high end BGS guys (while I can't prove it, I personally think it happens) flashing cash in the parking lot to get the bump from a 9.5 to 10...just my 0.02
  • I think the bigger problem is the volume of grading that PSA has to deal with. Beckett and SGC dont grade nearly the amount of cards that PSA does. PSA likely doesnt have the manpower to send some graders to a show given the number of cards waiting for them in newport.

Does PSA even have graders onsite at any show other than the National anymore? The usual intake people at most shows aren't graders, so I never even bother asking an opinion. Usually have better luck asking friends.

Always looking for Topps Salesman Samples, pre '51 unopened packs, E90-2, E91a, N690 Kalamazoo Bats, and T204 Square Frame Ramly's

I know at the Fort Washington show that they do have autograph authenticators but no graders.
  • They grade on site at the Chicago Sun Times

They did grade at the Fort but I guess they didn't want to bring along the slab sealing machine. With pregrading they don't have to do that. They can put the card in a card saver and seal it with a tamper resistant label like Beckett. It would be nice to have the graders outside of the curtain (like GAI) and out in the open so I can scream at them when they give me low grades, not that it would make much difference. chaz
