Send it USPS Global Express, about $30 for insured and guaranteed delivery date. Just make sure you can prove delivery if you take paypal for the $$

Ditto; I have sent coins in the $700-$800 range to japan several times. I agree that Global Express is an excellent way to go. Also registered is good. International insurance may be difficult to get with USPS to Japan (I can't remember). The tracking number on global express or priority mail is somewhat worthless, as it only tracks the shipment until it leaves the USA. Most of the International buyers do not have confirmed PayPal addresses (they are unable to get them in most cases). You have to rely on studying their EBAY ratings pretty closely (if it was an ebay sale). The confirmed address is only marginally comforting anyway, since a fraudelent buyer can reverse the charges after the item is shipped. The last time I had a problem with that was about 3 years ago, with a shipment to Singapore. (I quit using PayPal for about 3 months after that, unfortunately the inconvenience factor did hurt my International sales, so I went back to it. ) Hopefully, your buyer has a good, well established rating. If so, you should be trouble free. Good Luck.
  • Just be careful when using companies like FED EX, because they limit liability to $500 for sports cards and memorabilia!
  • I mailed a fishing reel ups expedited to japan and he received it in about 3 days

There ain't a snowballs chance that I would take a $1000 Paypal payment from another country. The buyer can simply tell Paypal that he didn't get the item and your money is GONE! No questions asked. Your account will be -$1000 simply on his word alone. This happened to me but for a much smaller amount. Paypal told me that without delivery confirmation, then I am out the money (which isn't available internationally). I state in my auctions now that I don't take international paypal payments but I will make an exception if it's like $20 or under (an amount I can live with losing).
