That's a great coin!!! Sure looks like a proof to me, with cameo as well. I suppose they didn't produce proofs for this issue?

"Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." -Luke 11:9
"Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God is one LORD: And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might." -Deut. 6:4-5
"For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; He will save us." -Isaiah 33:22
It most likely is a Proof. Boulton struck 1,420 proofs for use in presentation purposes and the proofs would most likely have been contained in silvered copper shells in a presentation box. Just as shown in this auction. (The silver copper shells were a common feature of proofs from Soho during this period.) It would be most unusual for a regular business strike to be placed in one of the shells, especially since they were making proofs.
Considering the time period during which this coin was slabbed, I would not be surprised if this coin traces it's pedigree back directly to either Boulton or Watt. Both of their personal holdings came on the market not too long before they started using this slab style.
