Need some advice re: a 'missing' item

Okay, here's the situation.
I won a Mutoscope card back in March. Wasn't for much--$5.00. I paid via paypal on March 17th and opted for insurance as well. Last Friday I emailed the seller as I haven't received the card yet. Seller responded that the card went out insured on March 21st and included my address in the email as to where she shipped it to. I replied to the seller that I'll keep an eye out for it. Anyway, one week later and still no card. The seller has almost flawless feedback--99.9% and a rating of 5100. I honestly believe that she did ship the card and that it is lost in the mail. Question is, how much longer should I wait, and if anything should I contact her about filing for the insurance? Realistically, is it worth it to file the insurance claim? and would she have to refund me my money and file or do I have to file it?
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

If not, you would win a dispute with paypal.
If the seller has 5100 feedback and sells in that much volume, it would save everyone a lot of headache just to send you you're $5.00 back. That's what I would do.
Here's hoping the package I just sent to you a couple days ago doesn't get lost.

<< <i>Why would you opt for insurance on a $5 item? >>
All depends on the item. Anything over $20 I always opt for insurance. If it is a unique or hard to find item under $20, I'll opt for insurance for the scarcity reason. I find in most cases, the sellers pack it a little better and the post office delivers it with care. I don't have much faith in the post office, but when insurance is involved I find that my stuff arrives in the condition it should.

Here's the deal....if you buy a $45 card for $9.95 and pay to insure it.....when it comes up missing....you know what you get.....$9.95 ONLY!! It doesn't matter what the book price is...it is what you PROVE you paid for it. Now if someone fudges figures for you....well then that's mail fraud....you can't win either way!!
I have bought my fiance a canister set (3 pieces)...it was $40...plus $7.95 S&H w/insurance. When it arrived...one piece was broken....no longer a set, I was PO'd. 1st the post office said it was improperly packed... NOT...it was awesome packing. Then they said I must have dropped it...even accused me of buyer remourse.
Again..NOT....as I has the package marked "damaged upon receipt" before I left the Post Office with it.
Ok..fastforward....they place the claim....you know what I get back...not the $40.....but ONE THIRD of that seeing the other 2 pieces were still deemed good in their eyes...
It cost me $400 in frustration and sleepless nights...lol
so in conclusion....I took the money, as it was pointless to go any further..and now I have a set of 2 matching canisters..
If you're insuring anything under $50....you're wasting your time!! If you use Paypal...a delivery confirmation will suffice.

If an article pops up missing totally, you will only get back the actual purchase price of the item. So if you paid $5 for a $25 card..even though it's booked at $25...you only get back the $5...and nothing for your postage or time...so it's a losing proposition!!
Now, if you paid alot for a card...you can still protect yourself.
If the card comes in damaged, say they bent a bubble mailer (obvious abuse)..or had tire marks on the package. Then they will try to put the blame off on the packaging and not protecting the item enough.
IF you do collect...it will cost you more in aggrevation and wasted time than just taking the loss...lol
Save you $$$ buy more cards!!
You have to figure though...if someone had 30- $100 cards and sold them off at $9.95 each...BUT destroyed them before they packaged them....and then had partner in crime receive them and lay claim on $3,000 instead of the $300 (the price they actually would sell for)... times thousands of crooks in the world...
The Post Office has to draw the line somewhere to protect itself....it's just good business.
Otherwise, everyone could just make a living off claims....because we all know that most cards don't sell anywhere near book (yes, vintage excluded)...
