Some people

This guy was buying 89 Fleer rack cases day after day so I emailed him to ask about what 89 Fleer Bill Ripken versions he found. I gave some info on what he could find ect.. The cases he was buying was around $50 and out of nowhere he offered to sell me a case. I can easily buy one on ebay at $50 or so but I guess after I informed him of all the variations he could find he saw $$ in his eyes. Anyways he offered to sell me a $50 rack case for $165 !!!! Needless to say I laughed and passed. Some people.

Just do a search on this forum. He has written about it here before, and I think he has a link to a site that details many variations of the scribble, the cut, etc.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • I'm starting to believe too many to count. I think we verified at least 12-15
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

  • I have 13 confirmed legit versions. I have a few others but am unsure if printing flaws or ??. I have seen at least 5 other versions from articles/collectors but unsure if real. Recently I found a article about the B/W test card being fake. I have a ebay group on Bill Ripken and my ebay user name has some info. 1989_fleer_bill_ripken_collector Sorry unsure of how to put a link.

Most people ask about what is rare.
Here my opinion based on versions in hand only-not counting Double Dies and other questionables.
    easiest first...

    both Black Box (round/square edge)
    FF
    glossy
    Black scribbles (3 loop,loop airbrushed,F showing)
    FF saw
    Loop saw
    F showing saw
    White Scribble
    White Scribble saw
    White out (most are fake)

I have a extra Black Box Dot (legit or ink spot) for sale if interested and a few others.
I need a real whiteout as the 2 I have are fake.

Yeah I call up Billy and ask him. I have wondered though if he followed his cards and knows the version count. Someone emailed Fleer and said they got a list of versions but would not divulge info or fwd email it to me.

I have confirmed thru many sources. A version is not legit if only backed by one source. I use articles, opinions of other veteran E/V collectors and versions found showing on unopened material. Not cello as easily tampered.
