How long do you wait? (ebay)

I won an auction for a 250 card lot of 75 minis. Emailed the seller after the auction for a shipping quote with insurance. No response in 24 hours. Asked again. I wanted to pay for the lot with paypal and use the discount code. No response. Finally the last day of the month I asked again. No response again.

Yesterday I got an email (10 days after the auction ended) that said he was at disney for a week and now he's in a 2 week jury trial. I told him I already bought the cards I needed and didn't want his.

He says I should have contacted him before bidding, if I needed to know that fast, and that he has 30 days to respond. He wants me to pay his fees.

Anybody else deal with accwfu before?

  • HE should have stated in his auction that he wasn't going to be there for the endings.
It's common courtesy to provide an invoice within 3 business days (3 any days for most people)....but your are still binding..even if he has a full schedule.

He should have said that item might not ship for a month....but then again...don't we all have friends/children/loved ones or significant others that can mail out a package for us??

You're stuck in the grey area man...and it stinks!!

But try to resolve it with him..and avoid any retaliation or nasty feedback
  • He knew he was going he should have mentioned it in the auction. Ask him if he trip was a last minute vacation ( doubt it) He left you in a lurch. I would have moved on a 2 weeks and left a negative. I will not coward down to protect feed back. He doesnt deserve a positive at this point regardless of what he does.
  • Tell him to take a hike. I believe that Ebay says you can file an "Item not Received" after 10 days - so they think you should have it also in 10 days. I wouldn't pay his fees - but you can cooperate with him so that he can get back his final value fees from Ebay. He will have to file a dispute, but you can both respond and you will not get a non-paying bidder mark.

    Good Luck.
