sounds like you were trying to artificially inflate your feedback with ebooks and it came back to bite you. Maybe thats why you have your feedback private.

    How long did you take?

Can't that be removed if you can show you paid within the time frame of the ad?

I don't use paypal, so correct me if I'm brong, but doesn't the person recieving the $$ have to pay something like .15 to get the money sent? Meaning that he would lose .09 to claim the .06?

Looking for Jonny Gomes cards, especially Triple Threads and printing plates. Will consider all cards, though. Got something? Contact me at c_u_l_1@yahoo.com
  • They are basically selling them for the feedback, paypal eats up the entire 6 cents up to 33 cents they get nothing.
Not a bad way to raise your feedback if your the buyer.

Private feedback and boosting ones feedback score seems shady to me, just my opinion.

I've had dealings with a scammer that did just that. After boosting her score buying and selling chile recipes, she would auction a high ticket item and rip someone off. Her feedback always stayed around 98%+, and because she kept it private, there was no shortage of dummies to bid.

How can you be at 100% if you got one negative. Am I missing something here.

Apparently you are. Current and recent auctions bid on by roastedcat(private)

I counted 131 of the feedback building one cent auctions on just the first page alone.

    Two questions for roastedcat:
    1) How are you still at 100% even though you have a neg?
    2) WHY is your feedback private? I don't understand. Are you trying to hide something? Seems odd to me. I generally won't buy from a privte feedback person.

Count me in. I never buy from private feedback people. generally, they are looking to rip people off.

    OK guys...

Jery aka Roastedcat has never been anything but polite and gracious here since I've been a member.

He feels comfortable enough to show pics of his family. Takes the time to offer scans which are relevant to a topic and is positively affable at all times.

So how about giving him the benefit of the doubt.

I'm not saying lay off but just...

Couldn't ya just ask him about his private FB and penny items and stop there and not draw any conclusions.

Let Jery answer the questions - if you guys think he's all wet, then let him know.

He's been a good guy and some of the "assumptions" drawn about him are not fair IMO.

How is this shady? I don't think roastedcat is a big time seller on eBay, so who cares if his feedback is 5,000 or 8,000???

If someone feels like they need to purchase 50 gmail accounts and secrets of 1 cent auctions to gain feedback, well, that's their decision. I personally don't care about a huge feedback number and wouldn't waste my time buying things I wouldn't use just to raise my number.

I understand people's suspicion about private feedback, but sometimes people prefer something for an entirely different reason than we can bear to imagine. Jery deserves the benefit of the doubt on this one. He has been nothing but a trustworthy member here.

He may be a good guy and all, but ya gotta admit: padding your feedback total by buying mass quantities of ebooks and other non-physical garbage is totally lame.

  • I sell to a guy ALL THE TIME that has private feedback. He spends thousands and thousands of dollars in cards a month (by no means all from me!) and probably gets tired of people emailing him regarding items, etc.

There are many reasons for private feedback.

  • Thanks guys for the encouraging words.

Since many of you don't know me, maybe I'll shed some light on my past.

I've only been private for a few days now, Ebay had sent me a notice to go private for 30 days, ebay sends me this notice once in awhile because I've been buying too many items under a buck. Mostly penny items I'm what you call a bidder addict, the 7 years I've been on ebay I found myself spending more than selling. I've been buying up everything I see. I'm one of those people that you'll love to sell too on ebay, you wonder why a card sells higher than most cards, or some idiot paid this amount of $$$ when it's not worth it in the SMR, it's people like me. There are a bunch of people like me and we get attached to things very easily and it's very hard to sell it once we've got it. For the past 4 years I've been attending once a month an EAA meeting (Ebay addiction Anyomus) It's where people like me who bid and buy everything we see. I used to spend over 60K a year on ebay just buying PSA and SGC cards. Bidding on everything I saw and paying for it by Paypal in full which was linked to my credit card I bid on mostly high graded Ruth cards and T206 cards, finished my Ted Williams set in PSA 8's and was starting a PSA 9 set and started collecting HOF autographs. Yep, I was a Ebay addict, Anything I saw and liked, I bid on it. Currently I still am an addict, however I don't spend the amount of money I used to after attending EAA. I haven't upgraded none of my card sets on the registry for 2 1/2 years now. The key was to control your spending by controlling what you buy. Instead of buying high graded cards, I switched by collecting something else, Thus I collected Star Wars Memoribilia, it was cheap, and I could get more items for alot less. But even that can get out of control. I have stopped collecting Star wars stuff as of April 25th 2004. I took a break from it, Those that saw my collection photos, yep I got way out of control with my buying again. In one of our EAA meetings like 3 years ago, a member shared with the group what she did to control her spending. She focused her mind and committed to only spending $20 a month on ebay. I felt I could do it too, I could take control of my spendings, And thus committed myself to trying it out. As I started I'd bid on one PSA card for a hundred bucks and the rest of the time while I was waiting for the auction to end, I'd bid on penny items. 4 years later I'm still bidding on penny items, however I consider it as theraphy for me, it helps me to control my spending addiction. I don't really care about the feedback, What I do care about is I've actually got out of debt in 4 years, lowered my spending spree to $100 a month on ebay, and actually had cash to purchased a New 2005 Honda Oddessy minivan last year in full. I don't sell much on ebay anymore, due to raised fees on ebay and find it hard to let my items go. I now have a new hobby, buying HOF autographs for less and having Garret aka (Knuckles) custom create cards for me a few times a month, just to get me back into the collecting mode. I'm planning to let him create the whole Baseball HOF set for me, should take me several years to complete. I feel I don't have to appoligise to anyone, we all have our own problems and our own lives to deal with. Its what we do with our lives that matters. So make the most of your life and live it the best you can.

    Enough said,
    Jery

My personal experience with scammers has formed my opinion of private feedback combined with lots of penny auctions. I can't imagine the amount of money those two options combined have cost ususpecting bidders from scammers. So I hope you can understand the "say what" attitude, and I'm a newbie here image.

    Apologies, Trent.

    Hi Jery
    You're a good guy.

I didn't appreciate the "jump to conclusion" sentiment altho I understood where they were coming from and harbor no hard feelings towards the people in that group.

    Here's a thread I started a while back.

Last year, I was channeling all my pain into purchases on ebay.

I can totally understand how you feel. That's why I told everyone I was "banned" from ebay by my wife/boss!

There's a host of reasons why people over spend on ebay and I'm no psychologist.

But I do have a littel grasp on human nature.

So, if ya need to talk it out on the boards - I think it's a worthy thing to dredge up that thread and start talking.

Alot of people will avoid my discussion since it hits home.

I think some of the "revelations" that I proposed in the thread hit home for many.

Good luck and I hope everything works out OK!

I have no question you are a great guy, my only question is ok you buy all these penny items and "don't care" about the feedback, but why are you buying several gmail accounts? I could understand your Ebook response, but buying multiple gmail accounts for fun?
