    And yes, Vladdy!
    How about the Hawk Dawson?

One many times forgotten but had a pretty good 5 year run--HOJO in New York.

Bonds 5 tool? I thought defense was one of those tools? Bonds has always had a weak arm and cost his team a world championship
in the field. Is defense not a 5 tool measurement?

Clemente died way before I was born, but looking at his stats I'd say no based on the lack of power hitting (only hit over 23 HRs once [29])

    5 tool player

    1. Hitting for average
    2. Hitting for power
    3. Running speed
    4. Arm strength
    5. Fielding ability

    I guess to quantify it:

Hitting for average is easy - batting average

Hitting for power - HR's and extra base hits

    Running speed - stolen bases

Arm Strength - tough, maybe assists for outfielders? runners caught stealing for catchers

    Fielding ability - fielding percentage

    Al Kaline.
The Mick despite having bad knees.
    Willie Mays
    Clemente
    A Rod
    Griffey
Stan Musial (not a speed demon but a smart baserunner)
    Joltin Joe
No particular order except Mays at the top.

What about Rickey Henderson? He's seems to fit those from what I know.

Mays was probably the best of his generation, Bobby Bonds was pretty good in his heyday, nowadays I think there are too many to name any one individual as the best.

    Brian

Actually Clemente was a 5 tool player. To consider just Home runs does not give a truly accurate description for power. He constantly hit in double figures for triples and for his era was as feared as Mays and the other boys.

His lifetime slugging pct was around 90 points higher then league average too.

    Steve

edited to add: brian saw where you did indeed say extra base hits too. however, for his era the amount of total bases he has would in my opinion include him as a 5 tooler. he could throw, run, hit, hit for power and was among the best fielders of his generation.

    Good for you.

You are beyond schooling...you've been schooled and 'owned' (as softy likes to say) so many times you don't know which way is up.

Now, don't you have homework you should be doing? Your mommy's gonna be mad if she catches you on the computer again.

Don't know if he will do it or not but Grady Sizemore on the Indians seems like he might be a future great player....did anyone see his catch yesterday against the Twins.....he's been doing it for over a year now, he has speed, power, hits for decent average now and that should go up if he cuts down on his K's.....and his arm isn't bad.

ok by career stats what numbers would be considered in the 5 tool's?

like how many homers how many sb's etc.. 300 homers would then state he is a power hitter?

Listen big guy, from the way you post it would appear that your ''tool' has not been used for quite sometime. (other then, perhaps your right hand)

Now get back under the bed and suck that thumb of yours. Be sure to also go over my post with a fine tooth comb so you can PM with any mis spellings I may have.
