LOL....It took you 2 games to score one touchdown, and that was back when you had weapons. You will be lucky to sniff
our end of the field once.

2006 Season - The Smelly Pirate Hookerneers Harken Back To The Gay Old Days

<< <i>So by occasional you mean once every 25 years? Uhm ok, if that floats your boat, sure. >>

And the Sucs have been in the league for how long and been there how many times?

No question. Over the last ten years the Eagles have done more with their chances in the playoffs than the Bucs. I'll take that over winning one SB and going one and out in just about every other playoff round.

The Bucs did it once but all the other years they blew the chance.

You can keep your flash in the pan.

Gruden will be done after 06.

<< <i><< Would you rather have a team that tanks nine years out of ten, missing the playoffs each year, then winning a title? That's fine but nine years out of ten you'll sit during the post season. >> >>

I wasn't referring to the Bucs. Perhaps you should pay attention.

Yes you were, you were talking to me, and therefore my team. Who were you talking about?
  • SoFLPhillyFanSoFLPhillyFan Posts: 3,931 ✭✭

    Sparky?

There you go again with the name calling.

I was giving a hypothetical reference and therefore did not mention a particular team. Guess that rhetorical thinking is not your strong point.

Then again fantasy is. Yeah Joe D. practically bribed the scorekeepers to give him hits. Did he promise them sexual favors from Marilyn Monroe too? That accusation borders on being un-American.

    My team?

You do not play for a team. They are not your team, we, us, or any other reference connected to your person.

    They play. You sit.

They lose. You try to make them the best thing that happened since Joe Freakin DiMaggio!

I think that all of us are done with you. The poll shows it.

    Softy-

A phony? The difference between the yankees buying their titles with the highest payroll is that in football, over the past dozen or so years, every team has been on the same playing field as far as payroll goes.

Anyways, who invited you? Do I need to squash you yet again?

The bucs have been to as many NFC title games as the Eagles....The fought the greatest show on turf and held them to three
filed goal while using a rookie at QB. The second game they won and they blew out the Raiders in the superbowl.

    What have the Eagles done?

How can you say the Eagles have done more when they have no rings? The only people who mention second place are Bills and Viking
fans. You are truly pathetic to think that the Eagles will do anything but show up wearing dresses, lipstick and kneepads come October.....accept it!

What would your socialistic and liberal a$$ like? Would you like the New York Yankees to NOT try as hard as they are ABLE to? Is that what you want? A BIG LEAGUE team that is forced to CONSTRAIN themselves so that the weak somehow are considered on the same level? image

And the NFL ..... what makes you think the game is better off then it was before free agency and a salary cap? Could it be your socialistic/liberal view on everything? I think so. Many, many, many years before you knew what a football was the supposed "small markets" of Green Bay, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, etc had GREAT success.

I think the man you used to have in your signature line, Wellington Mara, knew for the good of the game (and not his OWN selfish interests) true revenue sharing would make the game better overall. Would you have dared called Mr. Mara a 'socialist liberal ass'? Hah! I don't see how can supposedly idolize him, yet crow about how the Yankees are just 'trying to win'. Please. All the Yankees do is not 'try as hard as they are ABLE to do', they just outspend everyone because they can. Of course they are going to spend as much as they can. But for you to brag about how 'great' the yankees are, maybe you should remember Mr. Wellington's ideals and how baseball would be better off with his ideas instituted in baseball.

Yes, that was before huge national and regional TV contracts, where players played not for money, but for the love of the game. They played hard and in the offseason held second jobs. These small markets in football would struggle JUST like in baseball, if there were no revenue sharing or salary cap. Get a clue, bub.

No, sir, the phony is you. You claimed to admire Mr. Mara by flying his photo in your signature line for a few weeks after his passing, but all you care about is 'how much can my team spend?' 'how many more free agent all stars can we acquire?' yadda yadda yadda. You care nothing about the game, you simply spout off like a petulant child non-stop 'mine! mine! mine!'

    Go away, chump.

You claim to know so much about everything NY, perhaps you should do a little reading and research before you run your yap (who am I kidding, a yankee fan that is enlightened? They don't exist!) Mr. Mara had more class and foresight than anyone who's ever been in the yankee camp. From the NY Giants own website, ya dope:

"He has recognized for always putting the league’s interests ahead of what was best for the Giants."

Also, the following from an article:

"The NFL named its football after Wellington Mara, who was one of the men who insisted that NFL clubs split television rights fees equally. As owner of the New York Giants and parked in the biggest television market in the United States, Mara could have been greedy, but he saw a bigger picture.

''When the league got its first television contract, he realized it had to be equally distributed so everybody could be competitive. That was a major thing that he did, along with his brother, Jack. Even though they had the largest television market, he said the money should be distributed equally. They knew it was better for football and the future of football by sharing the money equally. He was the one, along with his brother Jack, who made that sacrifice. He not only made that sacrifice, it was his idea.''"

The NFL, due to its revenue sharing and 'league first' (not team first) mentality is the reason the NFL is by far the #1 sport in America.

<< <i>Yes, that was before huge national and regional TV contracts, where players played not for money, but for the love of the game. >>

Oh my goodness are you an idiot image Oh yes Ax, players back in the day just loved the game so much that they would play for free
    >>

Did I say for free, ya simple minded dope? But baseball and football players alike played for peanuts compared to what they do today. Yes, the biggest superstars enjoyed 6 figure salaries, but those were few and far between. The average joe was not paid handsomely at all, and yes, you twit, they did love the game, and not just the paycheck.

The one who should be crying is YOU. Despite the yankees desperately trying to buy another championship, spending $200 million + per year to do so, they continue to fall short. All it does it hurt the small market teams, as the Bostons, the Anaheims, and the like have to ramp up spending to be competitive. The yankees aren't trying any harder than the Oaklands, the Pittsburghs, or the Milwaukees of the world, they just have the luxury to hide their numerous mistakes with bigger and bigger contracts. The yankees actually have an easier time of it to succeed than the ones I mentioned.

What arrogant yankee fans like YOU need to understand is you need the small market teams as much as they need you - no matter how big and loud you want to get, it's the truth. What happens when those teams no longer want to play ball, and fold up? Would you prefer a league with 6 teams? I mean I know you would, as you might actually get your team to win another world series, but without sharing of TV revenue, you might as well.

You're so damn arrogant, thinking that the yankees are such a superior franchise, that they are somehow entitled to all the best players. How sad is it that you don't give a damn about the game, only about trying to buy your way to a championship?

Go do some research before you post again...you're far too easy to beat down.

Back then the average player's salary wasn't that far out of line with the average worker in the US...and if you've ever watch 'for the love of the game' series then you'd see a different type of player THEN as opposed to today.

How pathetic and how arrogant you sound. That only teams that are fortunate to have millions and millions of people and huge TV contracts are 'worthy' in your eyes to have a MLB franchise. And you wonder why non-Yankee fans hate you guys so much? it's this spiteful arrogance that you are somehow better than 'small market' teams, that you see them as a minor league system to develop players for your fat, lazy owner to pluck from (as its obvious your team has NO idea how to develop talent of its own).

You want to contract over 1/3 of MLB teams? REAL big league towns? And what would you say to the proud franchises like the pittsburghs, the kansas cities? 'Sorry fellas, your team just isn't uber enough to compete with us. See ya!'

You're a clown, and your attitude is just what makes REAL sports fans wish you'd just go away...leave the sports talk to REAL fans, not arrogant blowhards who feel the rest of the league is beneath them.
