    Great photo - very crisp.

The uni? Don't care for them - always thought they looked more like softball uni's.

How many photos are in the collection?

    thanx for sharing

  • A very dear friend of mine has co-authored a book about the 1977 White Sox. His collection of images from this era is unrivaled in the hobby. "Old School" is proud to have acquired a limited number of these images for private sale as well as display (like this one). This particular image is retired and was used as the cover of the book. Southside Hit Men is available on Amazon.com. I have added approximately 20 images of the 70's White Sox to our library. If you or someone you know would have interest in an enlargement of any partucular player or image/event (including disco demolition night, exploding scoreboards, "Tooth Fairies", CF showers, Players wearing shorts, etc.) please email me at oldschool.images@yahoo.com or PM me. You can also email Leo Bauby direct at lebau@aol.com.

For now, I just hope you enjoy the images.

Their early 70's blue and red uniforms are worse than those. They really look like softball uniforms. Nice pic though! image

  • There are 27 images available of the 1970's White Sox at this time through "Old School" and Mr. Bauby himself sells images at his discretion. He maintains a collection of over 10,000 original images of virtually any player since 1967 that has worn a White Sox uniform. They vary in quality and type, but you can bet there's a lot of everything!
As always, the OSI's are very crisp and digitally restored. They are the finest quality offerings in the industry. Absolutely immaculate and perfect in terms of clarity and free of extraneous debris. They are printed on crystal-matte or gallery-gloss quality papers by professional studios using proper adaptive lighting and 4000 DPI sources to ensure that even the largest sizes are smooth and discernable. There's NOTHING worse than an over-exposed, grainy enlargement.
I'm a fussy collector first and foremost, I will only print and sell what I think is quality--or I will state the flaws up front. Mr. Bauby is a collector and not into the art or technical part of the thing. That's why Old School and The Bauby Collection came together. The best stuff with the best quality in reproduction should equal some pretty staggering prints. I know it sounds like a commercial, but I'm pretty doggone excited about this stuff. I love this end of the hobby and wish I had gotten started in it sooner.

  • Here's a shot of two things that no longer exist in Chicago...the powder-blue/red uni's and a pitcher named "Wood" that actually pitches in something other than a simulated game...

    THIS is an unbelieveable shot!

I love the first shot!!!! Two old school Pirates in different uniforms. That was Manny's only year away from the Buccos, and he was traded for a manager.

I just checked baseball-reference.com. The catcher with stats most similar to Manny was Thurman Munson. Those were two cool dudes.
Collector of 1976 Topps baseball for some stupid reason.
Collector of Pittsburgh Pirates cards for a slightly less stupid reason.

  • Here's another classic SOX shot of a very underrated offensive force of the era...

  • Great shot of the Lumber Company. Looks like Manny broke out a new uniform that day. Great image. I like the detail on the Dick Allen with the Zip not pulled all the way up. Looks like he was caught in one of those rare instances from 73 when he wasnt smoking a cigarette (unless he's holding it in his hand out of the shot)...

Is it just me or does it look like Dick Allen was just hangin out with Perry smoking one of those marijuana cigarettes. You know, reefers.
