ANYBODY sending any cards in for CROSSOVER??

I know its a longshot and not the best way to do it but i got some BVG cards i bought about oh...wow...when BVG was born and BGS was still respected (10's didnt exist and 9.5's hardly did either)....I got the following to crossover:

1954 ted williams BVG 7.5 (corners were a 7)
1955 ted williams BVG 5.5 (corners were a 5)
1954 willie mays BVG 4.5 (corners were a 4)

its hard to believe these cards would be altered considering they were before people knew you could FOOL BGS by trimming...before people knew BVG was going to suck too...and before they #1 changed there holder and #2 did away with subgrades.

at any rate, let me know if anybody else is crossing over stuff, id love to see what happens with these.

The only card I've ever crossed over was a SGC 84 Sonny Jurgensen that crossed to a PSA 7. Right now, I have a SGC 92 Bill George rookie that I'm crossing over that I'm hoping for a 9 on (sold 9 corners, a little o/c top to bottom). I'm crossing my fingers.

  • I was able to cross one BGS 9.5 in holder to a PSA 10. I failed on in holder crossovers on a BGS 9 (tried to a PSA 9) and an SGC 98 (tried to a PSA 10).

I am sure others have had better luck though.
  • I've never crossed over, but I do hope if you do decide to crossover those cards you don't crack them. You never know, if they were altered but BVG graded them, chances are you'd never get them back in a slabbed holder.

    Good luck,
    Kyle

  • I just crossed a BGS 8.5 to PSA 9. I know it's not a huge deal, but it does make a man feel good inside to do so.

    Loth,

I think you understand the situation since you are focusing on the corners subgrade. You could do a half grade better than the corners with Beckett's criteria -- my guess is that you absolutely will not get the half grade bump and may well do worse if you try to cross them into a PSA or SGC holder.

If the issue was edges or centering on BGS graded vintage cards (before BVG appeared), my experience is that you could get a nice bump when crossing...but I think you are hosed with BVG cards and a low corners subgrade.

    my 2 cents
