PSA Cards Storage/Finishing 70's FB HOF RC

Hey everyone, I am new to the forum. I noticed that there is no recent posts on storage solutions for large amounts of slabbed cards. I have several hundred PSAs, and I am tired of storing them in shoe boxes. I know about MJ ROOP but they are out of most of their products and I believe they are shutting down. Does anyone know of any other storage solutions that are as nice as Roops.

Also, I am currently trying to complete my 1970's HO RC collection. I am lacking the following cards:

1972 Rayfield Wright PSA 8 or higher (not AP card)

1972 Ron Yary PSA 8 or higher (not AP card)

Anybody have these cards for sale or trade??

I see boxes like these available all the time on e-bay...I always thought about paying someone good at wood working to make a wooden case that could store a few hundred as well.

  • Yeah, I have seen those also. I am looking for something a little nicer, like the Roop boxes. Thanks for the link though.

A PSA 9 Wright ended on eBay a few days ago.
"My father would womanize, he would drink. He would make outrageous claims like he invented the question mark. Sometimes he would accuse chestnuts of being lazy. The sort of general malaise that only the genius possess and the insane lament. Our childhood was typical. Summers in Rangoon, luge lessons. In the spring we'd make meat helmets. When we were insolent we were placed in a burlap bag and beaten with reeds - pretty standard really."
  • Yeah, I lost it. I thought $200.00 would get it but I got sniped with 2 seconds left.

I use the black boxes you buy from PSA for $5...seem to be pretty decent.

The Yary is the secret Gem of the 1972 set. I got a 9 6 months ago out of a pack and traded it for a whole bunch of Packer cards for my all time Packer set.

Be prepared to spend $65-$75 for the Yary.
  • i built a box for my 1990 leaf set based of ideas i got from that guy who posted a pic of the box he built for his star wars set a few months ago - worked out pretty well except its HEAVY
    collecting:
    1990 leaf in (10)
    1986 topps mets (10)
    2008 ring kings cut signatures
any Darryl Strawberry, Dwight Gooden, Keith Hernandez cards in (10)
  • Best mass storage solution I have ever heard was a guy that picked up the old card catalog storage from his library. They held 3x5 cards and have become redundant not that everything is one the computer. Should fit standard size 70's slabs.

Wanted: Bell Brands FB and BB, Chiefs regionals especially those ugly milk cards, Coke caps, Topps and Fleer inserts and test issues from the 60's. 1981 FB Rack pack w/ Jan Stenerud on top.

A nice economical way to house PSA slabs are to buy the 3 row shoeboxes. Cut the 2 fold down dividers in half.
If not it gets tight. You can fit almost 300 slabs in these boxes. You'll see many dealers who bring quantity use
this method. If they get too ratty after a few years then put them in newer ones.
They cost about $2 each and can even be stacked, although the most I stack them is just 2.
I have about 30 and they work well for me.
My '65 Baseball set was housed in 2 boxes.
Keep in mind though that SGC slabs are a bit wider and won't work well w/ this method...jay
  • Thanks for suggestions guys. I just received an email from Marty Roop at MJ Roop. He told me they are moving to another location and they didn't want to move inventory. They will be restocking soon and although they are expensive storage solutions, I have heard great things about them.

On another note, I am still looking for the 72 #316 Rayfield Wright PSA 8 or 9. Anyone have one for sale.

How do you order the black boxes from PSA. I can't seem to find them on the PSA site anywhere.
