State Quarters 2005 Business strike, How is your set coming along?

Finally obtained my last 2005 business strike quarter today to complete 2005.
I currently have the following in my set.
Califorinia P MS67 D ms68
Oregon P &D MS67
West Virginia P&D MS 67
Kansas P&D MS67
Minnesota P&D MS 67

All business strikes

Also wound up with complete satin finish with 7 of 10 at MS68 and 3 of 10 at MS69

I would just like to know how everyone else has faired for 2005.
Personally this has been the hardest set , and the costliest to assemble.

Got my straight grades of MS66 for them all in my Business Strike set. All but one in MS68SF with one MS69 in my Complete Washington set.
Paid more for some my 66's than I did for some of the 68SF's.

I gave up on the business strikes after the mint sets came out, so only my California's are in MS66 with the rest in SF. I suspect I will try to replace the other 8 with regular MS66s some day.

Did get the two Nevada's in MS66, so this year is starting out okay.

  • I do not think people realize how tough it is to get these grades in state quarters. Even the 66's are tough for
2005. I have a small fortune wrapped up in 2005. I had to finally purchase the WV & KS P's in 67 the rest I was
    able to find and submit.

I just made a few OR Bus stikes in 67 (P&D)'s if people are interested.

Your not kidding about costliest to assemble. I started buying business strikes in 68 early and still have 2 that I hope to get someday, wv-p, and hopefully a few ks-p coins will be found. Till then, those ks-p in 67 will bring a good premium, even tho they are
starting to drop in price as the #'s move up.

Bravo to you for collecting Business strikes. Those are the true tough coins to find in GEM!! In the coming years I believe you will be amply rewarded for your investments.....should you decide to sell. With 1 million+ mint sets made in 2005 you would be a fool to believe more 69-70's aren't out there to be discovered in the coming years. The business strikes continue to enter circulation and will become exceedingly rare in ultra-GEM grade. Chris
