Awesome set! It'd be sweet to see a picture of all the cards together.

    Good luck with it!

  • Thanks! I will be putting scans of the cards as well as a "All Card" picture on as well.

If anyone on the boards wins I will throw in two archive system binders for PSA cards made by MJ Roop. The are custom made and have Carlton Fisk PSA Graded Volume I and Volume II.

    Thanks,

    Glen

I dont think there is much of a market for players sets. I have put time and effort into the Rod Carew set but

I dont think anyone would buy the thing whole.

Your basically hoping there is a Fisk, graded ,card collector out there with $1800 in his pocket.

I dont think you can get around breaking up a player set.

Now, me and all of the other player collectors hope I am wrong!

    Loves me some shiny!
  • Carew4me,

You are probably 100% right. We as player collectors have to hope someone out there has an interest to dive right in. I don't think it will go myself but I thought I would give it a try. I have noticed the price of cards for fisk 10's going through the roof latly and with the recent EBAY purchase of a 1972 Fisk PSA 10 you never know if the trigger will be pulled. I put the starting price right about what I have into the set so if it goes no big loss and if it does not no big deal.

    Thanks,

    Glen

.....but that is the good thing about EBAY.........if there is another Carlton Fisk collector out there, "ebay" will find them.........

......You may have to list the set more then once to find them though.....

    Good luck!!

    Glen:

I hope that your sale does go well, and I applaud your efforts on the set. That said, as a player collector myself, basically you are selling all the 'least' important cards of Fisk, e.g. primarily cards from the '80s and '90s, without rookie cards, etc. To me, that is a big gaping hole, but, on the flip side, perhaps one of the easier places for a potential buyer to pick up the remaining needed cards.
I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.
  • I agree with you mikeschmidt, I could of easily picked up the 70's cards in 9 and made the set more complete. I actually sold off the RC and other 70's cards in 9 prior to listing the set. The cards that I am missing could be found very easily, I just want them in all 10's. I even considered taking out the PSA 9's all together.

I don't think it will sell myself. I just want to see if there is any interest out there. I can't remember if or when any large player set/lot has ever sold on ebay.
  • I doubt it will sell but it ends in less than 4 hours.
