Crossovers - PSA and BGS - Best or Worse Examples

What is your best or worse experience crossing a card from PSA to BGS or vice versa? Whether you cracked it out, or actually used the cross over servcie.

I cracked out a 1956 Topps Warren Spahn BGS/BVG 2 that I cracked out and sent to PSA, and it got a PSA 4. That is not to say that PSA is more lenient, but that is to say that PSA was more accurate. That card was far better than a 2.

I know that there are probably much better examples out there than that. That's just the best one that I have experienced.

I had a 1974 OPC Mike Schmidt BGS 6.0 that was downgraded because of a huge gum stain on the back.

Sent it to PSA, and I got a PSA 8 Stain.

After a period of three years, the gum stain mysteriously disappeared. And the card is now in a PSA 8 holder. I think the original card cost like $15. I'm sure there are some S&H fees I paid - but that was a huge gain for me.

Crossed a PSA 5 to a BGS 8.5
Crossed a BGS 9.5 to a PSA 8 (which then on resubmission became a PSA 10)
Crossed a BGS 4 to a PSA 5

During the course of the last three years I have cracked out and crossed over the following PSA graded cards from the 1957 Topps Basketball set (I have a complete set on the Beckett registry with Pics if you want to take a look). In fairness to both companies the overall results have been pretty consistent.

I used these 6 as an example and have 11 more with similar results PSA 6 to BVG 6/6.5, PSA 7 to 6.5/7 but I am a lousy typist and its taking me to long with the two finger method to list them. I also crossed over a #66 McMahon graded a GAI 7.5 and it came back a BVG 6.5. So I would have to say that was the only one to drop a whole point. Take care and Good Luck with your sets.
