For The Modern Collector's/Pack Rippers

Stopped in at work to pick up my check and I saw we got in the new Topps Triple Threads baseball. My good friend and boss cut me a nice deal so I bought a box(2 packs per box). Well I think I can say I got my money's worth and then some on this baby!
The other big card was a Hank Greenberg bat numbered 7/18

  • That Musial is going to end up paying for the box (and then some), huh?
Next MONTH? So he's saying that if he wins, the best-case scenario is that he'll be paying for it two weeks after the auction ends?

Forget blocking him; find out where he lives and go punch him in the nuts. --WalterSobchak 9/12/12

I just checked the checklist on the Topps website. It appears there are no less than 24 Stan Musial 1 of 1 printing plates by my quick count. I hate when they do that. Here is the link. Still a nice pull

    Musial Topps list

Fixed the link and I stand corrected. There seem to be up to 40 of these, 1 per case.

  • Well since the jersey market is dead they need to find something else to latch onto. I guess printing plates are it! image

Beautiful card. Welcome to the age of sticker autos...hold on to your signed on the card cards, they wil be getting rarer!

    Congratulations!!!

Very nice card. I'm with Kevin - I don't love the sticker autos but for me an auto pull, especially Stan the Man is super!

How much is a box? And there's only 2 packs?

I read in SCD last week where Topps wants to "fill the gap" left by Donruss, e.g. and get more involved in those super expensive packs. I don't have the courage for that kind of stuff - I haven't felt lucky in almost two years!

    Thanx for sharing

Yes only two packs in a box. Well they run in the $160 range but I got mine for $115. I work at a card shop for a good friend of mine so he cut me a sweet deal on one. Then he cut me off because he said it would be tough to do better! image

  • Is this the first year that Topps has gone with the autograph "stickers"? I thought the earlier Topps cards (Archives, etc) made Topps stand apart from the rest by not using bandaids?

Topps has been the best as far as autos on the card, but they are realizing that it just doesn't matter. The have made the switch in
football, uncluding the once untouchable bowman chrome. Heritage and Bowman Chrome are still sacred, but that will change too. I
see a big premuim on the on card sigs cards in the future. Upper Deck is almost 100% as was Donruss when they made cards. What
I don't understand is how topps can send Stan Musial 300 heritage cards to sign, but then use stickers for a product that comes out
a month later. It boils down to money....just how much they want too make

I also find it funny that playoff lost their license because of all the high end mess, yet topps is saying they want to pick up that
void...hmmmmmm. I guess you can't stick in Josh Gibson and Mickey Mantle pieces into a 1.99 product.
