This is the first finals game in recent memory that I didn't watch a single minute of. I almost never watch the Super Bowl (talk about a snoozefest), but the NCAA's are something I can't live without. But I just lost total interest when George Mason got bumped.
I can't tell you how proud I am of this team. We were supposed to be rebuilding this year with 4 sophs starting. Instead they played as a team all year long and won it all.
Hopefully everybody will return so we can be strong again next year.
UCLA really laid an egg last night. I watch every game of theirs I can get on the satellite and am very impressed that this group even got to this game. They took down several teams that should have beaten them. I just wish they would have played a smarter offensive game. Hat's off to Florida.
Looking for a Glen Rice Inkredible and Alex Rodriguez cards
UCLA finally met a team that they could not put the clamps on defensively (or they just had a bad game). Absent the ability to shut down it's opponent, UCLA was never in the game after the first few minutes. Florida's offense methodically took UCLA apart and in the end it became a "dunkfest" for Florida.
UCLA had no offense and lacked the ability to run and gun. Florida's interior defense was excellent and UCLA could not score from the perimeter.
Seminole nation here, checking in. That was total domination by the gators. Donovan just put himself as one of the greats of the game now. Not only a champinoship, but a rout..just like the bucs in 02. I guess its the Noles turn next year. (yeah right)
I have to say, as a huge college basketball fan - what an awful Final Four that was. Three terrible games this weekend, all over by halftime. Maybe this was because all the big seeds were knocked out, but I am sure CBS will be feeling this in the ratings.
Still, for what it was, congrats to the Florida Gators.
And we won't see another mid major team in the final 4 for 20 years.
This year was an aberration, and those wanting more teams in the tournament? That's just silly. Let's leave the field at 64 teams, let the others go to the NIT.

Absolutely, a 100% classy post, and I mean that. The Noles played us closer than the Bruins did. We were down like 18 points to you guys in the first half.
What about Billy Donovan? Was he even in the Top 5? Quite an accomplishment at in a re-building year at a football school. >>
I don't even think they were picked top 3 in the SEC...let alone top 5 in the country.
I too was hoping for a better game. I hate to jump on the refs, and I really didn't care which team won, I was actully just interested in a close game...but it seems like the refs killed any chances for the Bruins to make it close. Don't get me wrong...the Gators played extremely well and were definitely the better team...I just think that anytime the Bruins started to get into their game the refs would blow it...killing any momentum the Bruins could muster. At least it would have been a more interesting game. I am not sure what happened...it seemed like in the previous rounds they allowed the kids to play, but this game it just seemed like they blew the whistle way, way too much.
As far as not another mid major team not being in the final four for another 20 years, I think that is a bad estimate. I would be willing to bet that another one would make it in the next 5 years. There is just so many talented kids across the nation and with that talent out there especially with the NBA changing to a 19 yr old minimum there are going to be so many good teams to say that it won't happen in 20 years.

I was disappointed in the game also Chris.

Steve while I can appreciate your dig into me, this game was way out of hand the entire contest. Nice work though!

They were on a mission this entire torunament.

To sum it all up,
Apparently the last time was in the 1983 National Semi-Finals when Houston phi slamma jammad Lousville.
