Thome is a MONSTER!

He will be the AL MVP this year. 53 HR's is my guess.

  • It was worth staying up and flipping back and forth to see if the delay was lifted. That was quite a blast especially after a delay.
  • I stated it before the season started:

Jim Thome is coming home to Chicago (actually, he is from Peoria) to play in the Coors Field of the AL and he even has Dye and Konerko around him. He will have a fantastic year this year.

And all these "fans" who worry about his health, shouldn't. Between 1995 and 2004, he has played in at least 123 games per season. Add the DH role into the equation, and Thome will do just fine.

Here are his games played by year between 1995 and 2004

    1995 - 137
    1996 - 151
    1997 - 147
    1998 - 123
    1999 - 146
    2000 - 158
    2001 - 156
    2002 - 147
    2003 - 159
    2004 - 143

    LOW - 123
    HIGH - 159

    Remember these Chuck Norris Facts

    1. When Chuck Norris does a pushup, he isn't lifting himself up, he's pushing the Earth down
    2. According to Einstein's theory of relativity, Chuck Norris can actually roundhouse kick you yesterday
    3. There are no such things as lesbians, just women who have not yet met Chuck Norris

I'm excited about Thome in the lineup. I only wish I was able to see his HR and the rest of the game. Stupid rain. I don't get many opportunities to see the Sox play on TV out here in DC. Only when they're on WGN or ESPN, really, or if they are playing the O's.

The exciting thing about monster homeruns these days is because it will be perceived to be juice free. The monster shots will be rarer and therefore more impressive. I remember back in 1998 or 1999, Mark McGwire put a ball through the windows at Bank One Ballpark in Phoenix during batting practice. The ball landed out on the street. I wasn't there but everybody I knew was talking about it when I lived there. If you saw the park, you'd realized that the designers didn't anticipate anybody ever doing that because the windows are in left field and the street is right on the other side. It must have been a site to see.

I found a picture of the park on the web. I'm pretty sure that this is the windows he put it through. I highlighted it with the red arrow.

I saw that too when I searched for the picture on the internet. I didn't realize they changed the name either. Colangelo will pimp out anything for the right price. He's the corporate worlds dirty little whore.

He may be a pimp, but in this case, it has little to do with him:
