Any good finds at CICF? I wish I could have joined you this year. >>
I was sitting at Josh's table and was about to buy a nice BU 1967 5 Mark, when I hear a voice next to me and it was no other than MadMarty I think he saw the look on my face and realized I knew him. Then Marty set his bag down and the chicken near attacked me trying to get to the coin I wanted. I had to hold the chicken tight to get it back off
Lets see, the 2 best scores were a PCGS MS66 1853-B Hannover 1/12 Taler and a 1866 NGC MS66 1866-B Hannover 1 Groschen. Also, I bought several coins from Karl Stephens and I very much enjoyed looking thru his inventory. I didn't know who he was at first, but I recognized the handwriting on his 2x2's and then it dawned on me And I bought several other coins on eye appeal only, such as a BU 1913-A Prussia 3 Mark, a 1769 Mainz 1 Heller, and a couple Bruns-Lune-Cal-Hannover coins that will go to my uncles collection.
The show was heavy on ancients, but you should have been there. The drive was shorter than I expected, but Chicago traffic still sucks more than I remember it.
It was a good show. I was there with a fellow collector, Brad Ream, on Friday and Saturday. And Brad met his Madness and was a proud recepient of a Weenie Dollar, which he thought was cool. Now, Marty's chicken was biting my finger, and it had to pick the wrong one. I was glad to come as it has been over 5 years since the last time I was there.
