Spring is here!

I didn't think it was ever going to happen, but today has been one of those near perfect New England days that force you to ditch all the indoor chores and get outside to play. I managed to get an hour or so at my favorite swimming hole, md'ing, not swimming! brrrrr I managed to find $1.20 in assorted modern clad, a nice Jokers token and only a small amount of trash. Nothing interesting or exciting, but it was great to get the machine out! I've also noticed 2 new roads being built in my area, I'm hoping to hit one of the tomorrow. Happy Spring everyone!! Mary

Hi John! Jokers is an indoor amusement park in Portland Me. It has tons of kids games, like skeeball, that take tokens in place of quarters. I've found 3 or 4 with my md, but I've found even more at the car wash. People will always try to cheat those vacuums lol

Thanks Phut! This will be a first for me, do you have any suggestions? I'm not sure if I should start directly on the road itself or off to the sides. The portion that has been leveled appears to be made of finely sifted soil, but I really have no clue. The sides of the road appear to more rough freshly dug ground. Any tips you can give me will greatly appreciated!

  • Glad to see you're back out there Mary.
(my boss is from out there and he was showing me some awful winter pictures from back there.... -frozen sea water at the beach!!! brrr!!!)
Nice that Spring has sprung for you and hope those roads are productive.

Mary, If the stuff in the middle is soil then hit both sides and middle. If the stuff in the middle is sand or gravel then hit the sides, and hurry. If they already have the gravel, or hard pack, down they will be paving soon.
If it's a new development going in on farmland there should be some nice piles of topsoil to check out also.

The stuff in the middle is soil with tons and tons of dirt pushed back into huge piles, the size of which are just this side of mountains! I searched for about 2 hours and came up with 3 keys on a rusted ring, a giant washer and a shot gun casing. Now I know that if you, Tim, had been here you would have found 5 buffs, 12 indian heads, probably a few 230 yr old bottles, with a 20ct gold ring thrown in just for kicks. I say this with nothing but admiration. Ok, maybe a hint of sarcasm image

Thanks for the encouragement Dubba! If I can unearth half the treasures that Tim (Phut) does this season, I'll be happy as that sweet silver tone on your machine image

I've had many similar outings. Last Thursday night I spent four hours in a field. I left with my trash pocket full and my keeper pocket empty. Must have dug 50 plus bullet casings.
The keys are a good sign. People usually notice them missing before they would some pocket change.
Hope you have better luck on the second road.image
