Bracelet find...

Wasn't going to post this one, but since we appear to be lacking in the jewelry category for March... thought I'd post this find from a couple weeks ago.

Between rain storms here in CA, I was able to get out a few times for some quick, short hunts. While detecting at a park, I hit this signal that was sounding-off around the nickel range so I dug. Out popped this bracelet and I didn't think much, because I figured if it was really silver, it would've sounded more like the higher ranges of penny/dime.

Today when I took the pics, I noticed the marking on the bottom = 925. When I first found it, I was looking under the top part and didn't even bother to check the inside of the bottom. I know some jewelry can have "false" markings... so, I'm not sure about this one.

This one is off to the jewelry box.
Maybe one of my daughters will want it some day? image

Happy hunting,

  • Man..I really like that!....I bet it really is silver too!
  • Thanks Steve.
Have you found that silver bracelets sound lower and close to the nickel range? I would have figured it would have more silver than a dime... maybe due to the shape it sounds differently? I know the chain-link silver bracelets sound lower, but this style is a first so I'm not sure.
  • Yes. I have found that to be true also...I found a sterling silver bracelet that registered just above the nickel range, and when I dug it, it was the bracelet. You just never know, the trick is that if you get a good solid repeatable signal from every angle of sweep, dig it!
  • Ahhh, ok. So these could come in lower than a silver coin. Thanks again.

This is a good detecting motto:

Wonder how many of us ever passed up a nickel that was actually a piece of jewelry. image
  • Nice bracelet Rick!

That's a pretty one. My niece would be all over it.
  • Thanks John and Tim...

John- I'm sure I've passed up a lot more pulltabs than I have jewelry! (haha)

Tim- My daughter is almost 3 and if it didn't fall off her wrist, she'd be wearing it (told me today- "I like it.")
