43 Down-1962-63 Topps Hockey Completed in PSA 8 or Better

If it wasn't for fellow collectors on the PSA Set Registry, I would have a lot fewer sets completed. Once again a set is completed with a set registry participant providing the final low pop card.
I think of Doug Rivard as having unrivaled player sets. His sets of Hank Aaron(9.03) and Carl Yastrzemski(9.15) are easily the best on the registry. However, Doug also has great football and hockey sets from the 50s and 60s as well.
After starting by submitting a raw set and getting upgrades from various sources, I was stuck on needing just one card for some time in 1962-63 Topps Hockey--card #2-the pop 7 (in psa 8) Bob Perrault--one of the toughest in the set. Doug e-mailed me and for a fair price sold me the Perrault as well as 30-35 or so other cards I needed. Thanks Doug--I really appreciate it.
My 1962-63 Topps Hockey set ranks 2nd on the registry with an 8.05 set ranking behind the great Teemu. It consists of 65 psa 8s and the legendary Stan Mikita in psa 9. I will let the set rest at this level.
This represents the 10th set in PSA 8 or better I have completed since year-end 2005--the most I have ever completed in a short time. Believe it or not, I hope to have two other sets to announce in the short term.
My goal remains 50 vintage or semi-vintage sets all cards PSA 8 or better by year-end 2006 and ultimately over 100 sets PSA 8 or better.

Looking for Jonny Gomes cards, especially Triple Threads and printing plates. Will consider all cards, though. Got something? Contact me at c_u_l_1@yahoo.com
Great job once again. It appears that you have alot of momentum. Brian also appears to be on what you need as I see him appearing on the auction side more and more frequintly. Good luck with the remaining 7 for your goal. It certainly does look achievable at this point with only the first quarter behind us.
Dave
Dave,
Brian is all over the sets--what a guy to have on your team. Could not do this without his contribution.
I think I will get to 50 by year-end. Used to be there were a lot of naysayers about my ability to reach 100--don't see too much of that anymore.
Jim
If you live you will get there. Even though your total is 44 complete your % to 100 is certainly alot higher. Good luck and thanks again for the updates.
Dave
Thats true.
I rank my sets 1-150 quarterly and as of 12/31/05 my 100th ranked set(1940 Play Ball) had a set rating of 5.72.
Once my 20 or so new sets are in the mix, the 100th ranked set should move up to near 6.50.
Jim
Thanks. Several pop 6s or 7s in the set in psa 8.
Jim
