Alright, I made it to my 2000th post. Not such a big deal but I feel like it's time for me to do another coin giveaway.
I just want to say that all of you ROCK! I really like this board a lot because its such full of diverse people. I appreciate all the input all of you provide too. I've learned so much over the last two years due to my participation here.
Ok, on to the giveway. Just answer this question and you will be included into the drawing to determine the winner.
1) What do you like mostly about the series or type of coins you collect?
I'll pick a winner at random on sunday 4/2.
Prize: Unc. 1963 & 1963-D Franklin half dollars

Excellent.
I collect my own definition of 19th,20th and 21st century type coins with all the major varities. Even though I have 18th century coins, I'll finish that up after the last 3 centuries are completed.

As for what I like? I have a few series. I like the Morgans/Ikes because my son likes the large coins and this is something we share right now. I love watching him grab HIS 1881-s (toned) that he got from ER and say how "pretty" it is, how "cool" it is and how large he smiles when he holds it.
I also like the proof IHCs I have.....IHCs are one of the first series I ever starting getting (30 years ago) so they hold a special place. Now, I know what Proof is (I didn't then) and enjoy the RB and BN versions of these coins. I love how the copper can color.
Again, congratulations!
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
I collect modern commemoratives and other modern coins in PCGS PR69DCAM or PR70DCAM. I just love the frosty look with deep mirrored background.
I also have a low cost collection in a Dansco 7070 Type Set album that's about 2/3 full now. Some day I'll graduate to graded Type coins but for now I get VF-XF, whatever I can afford.
I like looking for varieties and cherrypicking.
While I may be new around here if you venture to the other side of the street I have been around. Anyhow...
I am in the process of collecting Washington Quarters for my set. I am working on a 1932 to 1964 set. I like tmy set for the simple fact the way I have it displayed is great. It resides in a capitol plastic holder.(A blue one) MOst of my quarters would grade at least MS 64 with alot of them grading higher, but I don't want them graded. I like the display as it sits. I am having a blast hunting down original pieces and I am not too far from completeing the set. I Just love the way an original coin looks with the great luster these coins garner. A few even have a rather nice toned look to them. I don't need a piece of plastic to let me know my coins are great. I Just need my numastic eye and alot of searching for the right coins. When I am done with this, I will feel great for accomplishing it, as many not sets this nice ever get to together. I Know there alot of low grade MS sets out there, but this set is something to behold. It may not be the most exspensive set to put together, but the set as a whole is a great presentation. I don't need the most exspensive coins to make my quarter set complete. I just need a good eye and lots of hunting. Then I will have completed an orginal looking quarter set for all to enjoy.

Thanks for the chance.
I like draped bust halves because the dies were handmade by craftsmen, the coins circulated when our country was young, and because some of them are truly scarce to rare in any grade, and all are beautiful to me

I like big hunks of silver and the Washingtons are fairly inexpencive

Franklins, Walking Liberty's for now. I wish to really getting into earlier halves but I have big dreams and tiny budget.
Congrats on your 2k posts.

I love Proof Franklins in uncirculated condition because they are so fragile. Franklins seem to show wear very easily. A little rub and there goes those couple of hairs on his head. And, the fields are so broad that they stand a big chance of picking up a hairline scratch or mark. I am scared to handle my coins. I don't trust myself enough. It's like holding a baby in your hands for the first time. You're not sure if you'll drop them so you would rather admire them from a distance. I haven't slabbed them because they look so good when they are raw. Plus, I am still researching the grading companies. All MS/PR coins leave me in awe. I can sit and look at them all day like a great painting or sculpture. I only have a few...but I'm patient. My jaw drops when I see a perfect cion. The metal looks almost fluid. I can feel what the designer was feeling when the drafted the design. The blood runs through my veins and I get a little dizzy. This hobby is not about money for me. I just love the coins. I know that coins are big business but they are an art form, too. I must have 20 or more different loupes, magnifiers, and lights just to view their best image. Everytime I look at them I notice something different.
I like Lincoln errors, also. Those I can afford!
Again, CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I love Bust coinage and collect them as my pocket allows......have to sell some moderns to fund the habit now and again though. I like the fact that if its a circ coin, you never know who could have touched it, where it could have been and how many times it was slid across a bar top in a bordello or maybe given to a doctor for payment.......the mystery intriques me. If the coin in BU, i wonder how it survived so long, untouched, unspent, near virgin for so long. Oh, I like the eagle on the back too.
I collect circulated coins in albums for the thrill of the hunt.
My favorite is the Washington Quarters, perhaps due to the video arcade days of my childhood when quarters were considered "treasure". I am slowly upgrading that set. I have an arcade token collection also.
I also enjoy, Maryland related coins, medals, and tokens (home state). For the heck of it I also collect Y2K coins for a registry set and some world silver examples.
Certified coins I own are mostly type examples and gold. I am working on a 1967 set in Cameo MS67 or better. All are slow patient projects.
i.e. - My collection is all over the place but that's just what it is and I like it that way.
collections: Maryland related coins & exonumia, 7070 Type set, and Video Arcade Tokens.
The Low Budget Y2K Registry Set
I like the availability of of all coins, no bank breaking show stoppers, also a few variants, DDs, Great toners and Blast whites, as well as some spectacular cameo proofs.
Very easy to complete, almost impossible to stop upgrading.
I have A whitman circ set, Dansco BU set, and a few Registry sets.
Thanks for the chance, and congrats on 2k.

Congrats on your 2K!!!! Please enter my kids in this drawing.
Hell, I don't need to exercise.....I get enough just pushing my luck.
Congrats and thanks for the chance.
20th Century Type set for the Registry
Modern Commemoratives, working on the gold now but pick up a $ or half if a bargain appears
Rugby coins from any country because it bring back great memories when I played.
1887 British year set because I like the design
Congrats on your 2000 and thanks for the chance
I collect the $5 and $10 indians in lower MS. I do love these coins because old gold has a very seductive color when the skins are original. One nice thing about the two series is that they are collector coins...not bullion so much. They are very historic and survivors of the '33 gold recall so the fact that they even are around is kind of a feat. Pratt and St. Gaudens...excellent designers and very comely presentations. The other thing I like is that there are some stoppers in both series so for now I can collect what I can afford and if I EVER HIT IT BIG, I can buy stoppers like the '09 O in 62, or the '33 (oh baby), or the fabled '29 $5 in 58...this is an excellent series. The only problem is the goobers think that they have to have these because gold has gone up...BAH on ya...go away and buy some bars, you bozos...these series are for collectors only, not bozos.
