i have some mint boxes of monticello nickels on ebay and a member messeges me asking if the stamp on the box was weak and hard to read. my auction states production date 01/25/06 and he said he was collecting this date and was very interested in the stamp, wanted me to send a pic of it. is there some error or something? when i first got them i opened 1 box and most would grade AU. i thought Dick Cheney took them hunting before the mint released them....... anyways, i didn`t open any other boxes and decided to sell `em on fleabay. any ideas why he is so interested in how the stamp looks??? thanks

I finally cracked one of the boxes of coins open yesterday... I was very pleased with what I found. The other 19 will still be in the sealed boxes when I think about selling them in another 20 - 40 years.

i did notice the first time through them there is a mark just to the left of monticello on about 1/3 of the roll, to me it looks like a scrape from a machine, not some type of error. nearly every coin has dings on portrait, fields and steps. best out of the first box is maybe ms64. i wanted to open more but held off. anyways, if somebody wants them bad it makes me want to keep `em
