I just visited http://www.coinace.com and saw something I did not even know existed! Proof cameo Draped Bust dollars. Take a look - and - if you have a spare 1.55 mil laying around ..... Talk about your eye candy!

Yes, the obvious difference is they were struck using a closed collar. Does anyone know if the edges on these proofs are reeded or lettered?
The price seems out of line, however. Jack Lee's PF66 didn't sell last year at a reserve of less than half that amount.
Remember, that this was struck solely for collectors and was well taken care of in its life.

As recently as 5 years ago, gems of these were selling for less than $200k so there's a lot of price resistance. They are novodels and not true series coins so they don't command the respect that some other coins do. They are very desirable in my opinion, but they aren't something I'd want to pay 7 figures for...
