Help Identifying Asian Coin Suspended in Jewelery. Gold?

Hello, this was recently acquired from a garage sale. I have no idea where this coin is from or anything about it. I was wondering if someone here could help to identify it. I know sometimes people would make jewelery out of gold coins. Thanks.

It looks like a Showa date with "new" script denomination, which makes it Y#72a (brass, 1959-88)
